Job description

Job Summary

Morris Technology Solutions is seeking a Network Technician to support the final phase of a large-scale enterprise network integration for a leading healthcare organization. This is a full-time, approximately two-month contract supporting a time-sensitive infrastructure migration project.

This hands-on role will focus on migrating network-connected devices from a legacy Cisco environment to a modern Cisco enterprise infrastructure throughout a hospital campus. The organization has been integrating multiple healthcare facilities and outpatient locations into a unified enterprise network, and this project represents the final phase of that effort.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, enjoys working with network hardware, and can work both independently and collaboratively to complete infrastructure migration activities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Technical Environment

  • Devices are being migrated from a legacy Cisco network running on end-of-life Cisco Catalyst switches, including 3560, 2960, and 3650 series switches.
  • All devices will be migrated to the new enterprise network infrastructure built on Cisco Catalyst 9300 switches and 9410 chassis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the migration of network-connected devices from a legacy Cisco network to a new enterprise Cisco infrastructure.
  • Migrate devices including computers, printers, badge readers, security cameras, and other network-connected equipment.
  • Remove and replace patch cables between switches and patch panels as part of network migration activities.
  • Assist with the decommissioning and removal of legacy network hardware following successful cutovers.
  • Perform hands-on infrastructure work within multiple IT closets and equipment rooms across the hospital campus.
  • Follow migration plans, project documentation, and established procedures to ensure successful device cutovers.
  • Document completed work and communicate project progress with technical team members.
  • Maintain an organized and safe work environment while performing onsite infrastructure work.
  • Collaborate with network engineers and other technical teams to complete migration activities efficiently and with minimal disruption.

Required Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in networking, IT infrastructure, desktop support, or a related technical role.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts including switches, structured cabling, patch panels, and TCP/IP.
  • Experience working with network hardware in an enterprise environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow documented procedures.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with team members.
  • Ability to lift and move network equipment and work within IT closets as needed.
  • Must be able to work onsite Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • Ability to work occasional after-hours shifts as needed to support department schedules and migration activities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting network migration, infrastructure refresh, or hardware deployment projects.
  • Experience working with Cisco networking equipment, including Catalyst switches.
  • Experience supporting enterprise healthcare, higher education, manufacturing, or other large campus environments.
  • Associate's degree or technical training in Information Technology, Networking, or a related field.
  • CCNA certification or progress toward certification is a plus.
