Project/Unit Description

ATAS Lab has opportunities for an Electrical Engineer in support of the DoD test/training range research and development. Responsibilities of this position include providing a wide variety of design solutions to sponsor projects, act as a Subject Matter Expert to engineering solutions, and lead technical reports and presentations in project and sponsor meetings. The DoD Live Mission Operations Capability (LMOC) program supports Air Force Training ranges and provides secure technology solutions to enable training. This position will be immersed in the Air Force training mission and have the opportunity to frequently interface with uniformed service members and DoD Civilians, and work closely with system end-users to ensure implementations meet their operational needs, and to help identify future system requirements. This position will report to the GTRI Phoenix Field Office.

Job Purpose

The Electrical Engineer designs, develops, and tests electronic circuits fabricated to support a wide range of programs. Additionally, the Electrical Engineer utilizes electrical circuit design and analysis tools to layout and model circuit performance. The Electrical Engineer also guides assembly, test, and integration of electronic circuits as well as tests, analyzes, and diagnoses malfunctions in existing hardware. Furthermore, the Electrical Engineer research component and material specifications and assembly and manufacturing methods for electronic circuits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist and confer with all project engineering staff on a wide variety of design solutions and approaches as a Subject Matter Expert.
  • Develop new methods and techniques to meet project objectives.
  • Develop electronic sub-system requirements and designs to meet project objectives.
  • Direct small to moderate sized projects and manage budgets and schedules.
  • Test and troubleshoot systems and sub-systems for operational readiness.
  • Generate documentation of hardware design and theory of operation.
  • Lead generation of white papers and proposals.
  • Lead technical reports and presentations at project meetings.
  • Support sponsors and potential sponsor engagement.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Architect solutions for multiple sponsored projects.
  • Direct or perform highly specialized tasks in area of expertise.
  • Test and troubleshoot systems for operational readiness.
Required Minimum Qualifications
  • 14+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Extensive experience with hardware and software design and testing.
  • Knowledge and experience with U.S. military training operations and Large Force Exercise execution.
  • Extensive experience with RF systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • Experience with Live Mission Operations Capability (LMOC).
  • Experience with Live-Virtual-Constructive (LVC) software.
  • Experience with Ansible.
  • Experience with Cisco networking.
Travel Requirements
  • 10% - 25% travel.

  • 9 years of related experience with a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
