Apex Systems is seeking a Network Engineer for a long-term contract-to-hire opportunity supporting a large enterprise environment. This position will be responsible for supporting and maintaining enterprise network infrastructure, troubleshooting complex networking issues, supporting security initiatives, and assisting with ongoing modernization projects across multiple locations.
The ideal candidate is a well-rounded Cisco Network Engineer with strong routing, switching, VPN, firewall, and infrastructure experience who can operate independently and contribute immediately with minimal training.

  • Hybrid schedule (3 days onsite / 2 days remote)
  • Occasional travel as needed

Primary Responsibilities
Network Infrastructure Support
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise Cisco network environments
  • Support routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, and WAN technologies
  • Maintain network availability across multiple locations
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity and performance issues
  • Support network security initiatives and infrastructure upgrades
  • Participate in hardware refreshes, migrations, and modernization projects
  • Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and technical stakeholders
Network Operations & Security
  • Support firewall administration and network security controls
  • Assist with monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident response activities
  • Support remote connectivity solutions and VPN technologies
  • Analyze network performance and recommend improvements
  • Support enterprise wireless infrastructure
Data Center & Infrastructure Operations
  • Rack and stack network equipment
  • Install and replace switches, routers, and supporting infrastructure
  • Manage fiber and cabling connections
  • Support data center operations and maintenance activities
  • Assist with network deployment and expansion projects
