What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Circular Fashion position, and why are they important?

To excel in a Circular Fashion role, candidates need a solid understanding of sustainable design, materials science, and supply chain management, often backed by a degree in fashion, textiles, or sustainability. Familiarity with lifecycle assessment tools, circular economy frameworks, and eco-certifications like Cradle to Cradle is valuable. Creative problem-solving, effective communication, and collaboration are key soft skills that differentiate top performers. These abilities are crucial for implementing circular strategies that reduce waste, foster innovation, and drive positive change within the fashion industry.

What are examples of circular fashion?

Examples of circular fashion include clothing made from recycled materials, brands that offer clothing take-back and recycling programs, and designs focused on durability and reusability to extend product life. These practices aim to reduce waste and promote sustainable resource use within the fashion industry.

What is a Circular Fashion job?

A Circular Fashion job focuses on creating sustainable, closed-loop systems within the fashion industry to reduce waste, extend product life cycles, and promote recycling or upcycling. Roles in this field may involve designing with sustainable materials, improving supply chain transparency, or developing strategies for textile reuse. Professionals in Circular Fashion work with brands, manufacturers, and policymakers to implement environmentally and socially responsible practices.

What jobs will be left by 2030?

In the circular fashion industry, roles such as textile recyclers, sustainable designers, and supply chain managers are expected to grow, while traditional fast-fashion manufacturing jobs may decline due to automation and sustainability shifts. Skills in recycling technologies, eco-design, and digital tools will be increasingly valuable as companies focus on reducing waste and extending product life cycles.

What is the highest paid fashion job?

What kind of jobs in media bring in $150,000 a year?

High-paying media jobs that can earn $150,000 or more annually include roles such as senior media planners, media directors, and content strategists, often requiring extensive experience, strong analytical skills, and proficiency with media planning tools. In the context of circular fashion, professionals in marketing, brand management, or media production with advanced expertise and leadership responsibilities may reach this salary level.

What are the typical day-to-day responsibilities in a Circular Fashion role?

In a Circular Fashion role, your daily activities may include designing products for longevity, sourcing sustainable materials, and working closely with production teams to ensure circularity principles are integrated throughout the supply chain. You might conduct lifecycle assessments, track material usage, and collaborate with marketing or sustainability teams to communicate environmental efforts to stakeholders. Regular communication with suppliers, recyclers, and other external partners is common to develop and maintain closed-loop systems. This dynamic environment encourages ongoing innovation and problem-solving, making each day varied and impactful.

Job description

Company Description

Depop is a peer-to-peer circular fashion marketplace where anyone can buy, sell and discover secondhand fashion. Our mission is simple: to make fashion circular by making secondhand as exciting and rewarding as buying new.
Founded in 2011, Depop's diverse community has helped move resale into the mainstream, where buying secondhand is no longer an alternative, but how people of different ages now engage with fashion. Today, more than 56 million registered users come to Depop to find great value, express their own personal style and give clothes a longer life. We believe that everything you want already exists, and our role is to help people discover it.
Powered by a team of over 500 people, our company is headquartered in London, with offices in New York. In 2021, Depop became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Etsy - the global marketplace for unique and creative goods - and continues to operate as a standalone company. For more information, visit www.depop.com
We aim to create an inclusive environment where everyone is welcome, no matter who they are or where they're from. Just as our platform connects people globally, we believe our workplace should reflect the diversity of the communities we serve. We thrive on the power of different perspectives and experiences, knowing they drive innovation and bring us closer to our users.
We're proud to be an equal opportunity employer, providing employment opportunities without regard to age, ethnicity, religion or belief, gender identity, sex, sexual orientation, disability, pregnancy or maternity, marriage and civil partnership, or any other protected status. We're continuously evolving our recruitment processes to ensure fairness and are open to accommodating any needs you might have.
AI Disclosure: We use AI tools (Google Gemini) to help our team source and review applications for roles with a high volume of applications. These tools assist our recruiters in identifying great talent but do not replace human decision-making. At Depop, every hiring decision is made by a human.
If, due to a disability, you need adjustments to complete the application, please let us know by sending an email with your name, the role to which you would like to apply, and the type of support you need to complete the application to adjustments@depop.com.
