Paralegal
Legal Department | Non-Exempt
Help Support the Legal Work Behind One of the World's Largest Churches
Lakewood Church is seeking an experienced, highly organized Paralegal to join our Legal Department and work directly with the General Counsel in supporting a broad range of legal matters that impact the ministry's daily operations.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute across multiple areas of law-including contracts, employment law, intellectual property, copyright, compliance, insurance, risk management, privacy, technology, and litigation support-while helping protect and advance the mission of Lakewood Church.

Work Schedule
  • Standard 35-hour work week
  • Monday through Thursday in the office
  • Optional work-from-home Fridays
  • Additional hours may occasionally be required to support ministry needs and legal priorities

What You'll Do
Working directly with the General Counsel, you'll provide legal and operational support across a variety of practice areas.
Legal Research & Document Preparation
  • Conduct legal research and prepare legal memoranda, summaries, and opinions.
  • Draft, review, edit, and proofread contracts and legal documents.
  • Assist with employment law, intellectual property, entertainment law, insurance, vendor agreements, software agreements, privacy, PCI compliance, waivers, and related legal matters.
  • Draft policies, correspondence, board minutes, and other legal documents.

Contracts, Compliance & Risk Management
  • Assist with contract administration through Onit and DocuSign.
  • Support the organization's compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Assist with insurance renewals and claims management.
  • Monitor operational risks relating to financial operations, technology, insurance, safety, security, and child safety.
  • Maintain assumed name certificates, sales tax and use certificates, and other regulatory filings.

Copyright & Intellectual Property
  • Assist with trademark and copyright filings.
  • Manage copyrighted musical works and licensing renewals.
  • Respond to copyright requests and maintain departmental copyright communications.
  • Assist with the removal of unauthorized social media accounts, websites, and other infringing content.

Litigation & Legal Operations
  • Maintain case status timelines and litigation records.
  • Assist with discovery responses and records management.
  • Prepare status updates relating to claims and lawsuits.
  • Report fraudulent activity occurring on social media platforms.

Department Operations
  • Coordinate legal meetings, training sessions, conference calls, and departmental events.
  • Manage calendars and scheduling for the Legal Department.
  • Organize the quarterly legal internship program.
  • Process departmental expense reports and reimbursement requests.
  • Maintain departmental spreadsheets, timelines, and legal correspondence.
  • Assist in supporting communication with Lakewood's international offices.
