Your passion:
You must have a passion to serve the Lord through the diligent stewardship of His resources. This position is responsible for maintaining the vehicle fleet by fueling, cleaning, and servicing the cars, trucks, vans, trams, golf carts, and other vehicles in the fleet. The Fleet Technician ensures that the vehicles are in proper condition and are ready for scheduled usage. This person supervises and works with various individuals on staff, temporary employees, volunteers, outside vendors, and the church body to accomplish tasks. This person must be able to handle multiple tasks and carry these tasks through to completion with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include diagnosing mechanical problems, preventative maintenance, documentation, record keeping, and tracking vehicle fleet information; evaluating and processing donated vehicles, and assisting with other mechanically related maintenance tasks.

You will:
  • Check the status of each vehicle at the start of each day. The priority emphasis is to maintain the church fleet in the best possible operating condition and readiness
  • Perform routine inspections to identify needs such as fluid levels, tire conditions, proper operation of vehicles, and similar items. Respond to reports of problems and assist in resolving maintenance needs
  • Identify service problems and needed repairs continuously. Select from approved vendors the appropriate resource to assist in diagnosing problems and to obtain repair estimates
  • Prepare purchase orders, transport vehicles, and follow through to completion of all scheduled or emergency repairs and/or service
  • Develop and maintain records of vehicle documentation, service history, and scheduled maintenance in accordance with DOT
  • Work to maintain golf carts as a part of the Calvary Fleet
  • Participate with special events and volunteer workdays
  • Administrate church vehicle reservation and event booking program
  • Administrate vehicle registration and license tag requirements and/or renewal. Work with outside services when needed
  • Administrate vehicle replacement and/or sale and final disposition of church fleet vehicle assets
  • Manage fleet keys with inventory system for tracking and accountability

You have:
  • Good overall technical skills and mechanical ability
  • Basic electrical skills in regards as pertains to vehicles and golf carts
  • Good troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • The willingness to learn additional skills needed to accomplish the overall work related to special projects and maintaining the church facilities
  • A friendly and caring attitude when dealing with staff members, volunteers,

vendors, and visitors encountered in the course of a work day, demonstrating excellent customer service skills
  • Flexibility with good time management skills
  • Good mechanical skills and understanding of vehicle systems and operation
  • A Valid Florida Driver License

What you are required to know:

  • This is a full-time (40 hours/week) hourly non-exempt position
  • You may have to work evenings and/or weekends to assist with special events or emergencies
