Job description

Position Title: Part-Time Office Manager / Bookkeeper
Organization: Cambridge Lutheran Church
Hours: 28 hours per week (Part-Time)
Location: Cambridge, MN
Position Summary:
Cambridge Lutheran Church is seeking a dedicated, organized, and professional individual to fill the dual role of Office Manager and Bookkeeper. This position is vital to the smooth daily operations and financial stewardship of our church community. The ideal candidate will handle administrative oversight, financial record-keeping, and coordination of our church facilities, serving as a welcoming presence and a central point of contact for staff, parishioners, and visitors.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Office Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the church office. This includes answering phone calls, responding to emails, managing administrative files, ordering office supplies, and producing weekly bulletins or church communications.
  • Bookkeeping & Finances: Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable. Ensure all invoices are paid accurately and on time, process incoming donations, handle payroll data entry, and maintain precise financial records using accounting software. Help prepare monthly or quarterly financial reports for the church council.
  • Facility Use Coordination: Serve as the primary coordinator for the use of church buildings and rooms. Schedule internal ministry events, manage external rentals or community group meetings, and collaborate with the custodial staff to ensure the facility is prepared for all activities.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience working in a fast-paced office or administrative environment.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with office software (such as Microsoft Office Suite or Google Workspace) and experience using specialized bookkeeping or accounting software.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a respectful, collaborative approach to working with church leadership, volunteers, and the public.
