Description:

Chronicle Books is looking for a Sales & Marketing Enablement Assistant to provide efficient project support to both the Sales and Marketing departments. Candidates should understand basic business fundamentals, have a passion for books and publishing as well as a desire to provide exceptional support. Strong candidates for this position have an aptitude for flexibility, identifying problems, creating solutions, setting priorities, and helping others. A robust productivity skillset – including Excel, Outlook and Adobe Creative Suite – provides you with the fundamental tools to adeptly manage and meet competing deadlines.


Key Responsibilities: The person in this role will work on the materials ordering process, liaise with departments for sales material availability, create mockups and other physical sales materials, track frontlist advance samples, and print & bind materials for trade shows. They will be the primary contact for digital assets for internal and consumer-facing materials, coordinate with Design regarding digital material, maintain a tracking system for eMaterials, field backlist online images, and create presentations with Edelweiss Designer. Lastly, they will coordinate the creation and distribution of print Advance Reader Copies (ARCs), coordinate creation of book titles into digital files (eARCs), work with Brand Design team on creation, and communicate status regularly to Marketing & Publicity teams.

Hiring Salary Range: $24.52 – $28.25/hr. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the expected salary for this position and will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, an applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and geographic location as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. This position is eligible for our profit share plan.

Schedule: Employees at Chronicle Books will follow a regular hybrid schedule in our San Francisco office of at least three (3) in-office days per week and up to five (5) in-office days per week, depending on project and business needs. Requirements:

Applicants will need a minimum of 1 to 2 years of prior work history, with retail, book, or customer service experience preferred. They should demonstrate clear and effective written and verbal communications, flexibility and openness to changing direction as business needs require, strong time-management skills, and a desire to work in a high-performing, collaborative, team environment. Applicants need to be strongly self-motivated with the ability and initiative to work independently, as well as collaboratively with a positive, can-do attitude. Project management aptitude will be required and the ability to take a broad directive and define the project steps necessary to deliver results. Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word skills strongly preferred and prior experience with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
