What is a Christian Web Developer job?

A Christian Web Developer is a professional who designs, develops, and maintains websites while integrating Christian values into their work. They may create websites for churches, ministries, Christian businesses, or faith-based organizations. Their work often involves incorporating biblical principles, faith-centered content, and ethical coding practices. In addition to technical skills, they may also have a strong understanding of Christian audiences and their digital needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Christian Web Developer position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Christian Web Developer, you need strong skills in web development languages (such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP), a solid understanding of user experience (UX) design, and familiarity with integrating faith-based content. Experience with content management systems like WordPress, knowledge of web security standards, and relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Web Developer) are commonly valued. Stand-out soft skills include excellent communication, collaboration, ethical awareness, and the ability to convey Christian values appropriately online. These qualities are crucial to effectively develop, maintain, and enhance web platforms for Christian organizations or audiences while upholding their mission and values.

What are some typical challenges Christian Web Developers face and how can they overcome them?

Christian Web Developers often encounter the challenge of presenting faith-based content in a way that is accessible and engaging for diverse audiences while maintaining theological accuracy. They may also need to ensure that digital resources are both user-friendly and in line with organizational values or denominational guidelines. Collaborating closely with ministry leaders, content creators, and other developers is a key part of the role. Proactively seeking feedback, staying updated with best practices in both web development and digital ministry, and maintaining open communication channels can help overcome these challenges and support the overall mission.

Software Engineer at Remodel Health

We are Remodel Health, the health benefits platform that revolutionizes health benefits to resource organizations with missions that matter. Our platform shifts organizations from traditional, one-size-fits-all health insurance plans to an individualized health insurance experience for each employee and their family.

We were founded on faith-based principles, and have a heart to serve all organizations, from small to large to enterprise. Historically, our core customer pipeline has consisted of churches, K-12 private schools, Christian higher education, and faith-based nonprofits. In recent years, we have grown to serve largely for-profit organizations of all sizes.

Our team is collaborative, intentional, and prioritized. We care deeply for our customers and passionately believe there is a better way for employees to receive health benefits from their organization. Learn more about who we are here!

The Product Team is looking for a Software Engineer to join our lean and dedicated group of Engineers. You will have the opportunity to be a key team member in a growth-focused startup environment. Be both supported and challenged to grow your skillset, and work within a tight-knit team that values learning and teamwork.

In our stack, we use modern tools like React, Redux, Material UI, .NET Core, SQL Server and Azure.  We have automated build deploy processes and value strong testing methodologies with automated tooling to help.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for integrating with third-party APIs, developing web services, coding in the UI and backend (including SQL) and making architecture decisions. You will be responsible for the quality of your work and be challenged to develop and maintain well-tested code, from idea to production. You will develop software that performs well and supports an engaging user experience. You will have a voice in the technical direction of the team.

Qualifications
  • 2+ years of software experience
  • Experience writing and consuming REST APIs
  • A strong foundation of Object Oriented patterns
  • Good understanding of data structures
  • Strong communication skills

  • Develop web applications using JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular or Vue.
Benefits
  • Full health benefits offering, including life, long-term disability, dental, and vision
  • Generous PTO
  • 401(k) match
  • Sabbatical PTO available after 5 years

This is an in-office position in downtown Indianapolis four days/week, with work from home Fridays.
