Job description

Basic Function:

This is a leadership position for overseeing two counties and their programs and services. This position will lead the services in each county and oversee a diversity of prevention and behavioral health programs including case management, early childhood programming, employment services, and counseling. This position will also be responsible for evaluating and improving programs to serve the needs of individuals and families in a specific county. As a result, this position requires an understanding of the needs of the county, ability to design and monitor outcome-driven programming, and ability to engage a diversity of stakeholders including regulatory agencies, Catholic parishes, community leaders, and funders to support the mission. Strong management and operational skills are required, as well as being fully aligned with the mission, values, and teaching principles of the Catholic Church.  

Key Responsibilities:

Mission and Relationship 

  • Ensure that the activities of this position are relevant programs consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Catholic Charities and the Roman Catholic Church. 
  • Encourage a staff culture that is built around adherence to the mission of Catholic Charities and providing an exemplary experience for clients.  
  • Operate as an ambassador of the mission of Catholic Charities, developing strong and trusted relationships with numerous stakeholders, including county leaders, regulatory bodies, parishes (priests and parishioners), businesses, community and civic organizations, and clients.  
  • Coordinate the Advisory Council which supports the work of the sites in the two counties.  
  • Operate as a liaison to both Catholic Charities administration and other sites and programs, coordinate within the system to promote activities, staffing, programming, and more.  

Program Strategy & Community Impact 

  • Develop and implement programmatic and county strategies that are aligned with the organization-wide strategic goals of Catholic Charities.  
  • Ensure that programs are outcome-driven, producing consistent, positive outcomes for clients. 
  • Utilize avenues of communication within and between various program areas within the county to promote cohesion among programs and staff.  
  • Oversee proposals and reports to major funding sources and utilize opportunities for increased funding for program(s) expansion. 
  • Utilize relationships with stakeholders and partners to promote Catholic Charities in the County, building bridges for partnership and increasing the reach of programs and services.  
  • Develop and carry out sustainability plans for the overall programming of the county.  

Required Qualifications

  • Combination of education and experience normally represented by a Master’s Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Public or Business Administration, or related field.  
  • Alignment with the mission and vision of Catholic Charities and the Roman Catholic Church.   
  • Demonstrated experience in program design, strategy, implementation, and oversight. 
  • Demonstrated experience in community relations and raising funds to support programs and services.  
  • Five to seven years fiscal, administrative and supervisory experience required with experience in grant and fund solicitation preferred.  
  • Must have five years of management experience in social service agency or private sector required.  
  • Must have knowledge in a variety of fields of service and problem areas pertinent to the operations of the site.  
  • Must have the ability to relate and build relationships with a wide variety of persons, professional, volunteer, and client; organizations and systems, both public and private; and Catholic and Christian stakeholders including the Diocese, individual parishes, and priests and religious.  
  • Must be capable of independently and proactively seeking to strengthen programs and services, and county development through creative and strategic initiatives and relationships. 
  • Must have the ability to effectively manage a variety of concurrent and varying activities as well as handle coordinating, prioritizing, and responding to issues and difficulties simultaneously.  
  • Must have excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.  
  • Must have excellent leadership and organizational skills, strong detail-oriented skills with the ability to supervise, lead by example in word and deed, and work within teams.  
  • Must have the ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.  
  • Willingness to work a diverse schedule that may include evenings and weekends.    
  • Good working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software.
