Job Title: ELL (English Language Learner) Teacher Location: Brave Christian Schools
Reports To: High School Principal


Position Summary


Brave Christian Schools is seeking a dedicated and culturally responsive ESL Teacher to support students whose first language is not English. The ESL Teacher will help students develop proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening while equipping them to succeed in academic coursework across all subjects.


The ideal candidate combines strong instructional skills with patience, cultural awareness, and a heart for serving students from diverse backgrounds. This teacher will also model Christian character and contribute to a Christ-centered learning environment.


Key Responsibilities


Instruction & Language Development

â—Ź Provide direct ESL instruction aligned with state standards and language proficiency benchmarks.

â—Ź Develop lesson plans that strengthen grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing, and conversational English.

● Differentiate instruction based on students’ language proficiency levels.

â—Ź Use research-based ESL strategies such as sheltered instruction and scaffolded learning.

â—Ź Assess student progress regularly and adjust instruction as needed.

Academic Support

â—Ź Collaborate with classroom teachers to support English learners in content-area classes.

â—Ź Assist in adapting assignments, assessments, and materials to ensure accessibility.

â—Ź Monitor academic progress and provide targeted intervention when necessary.

Student Advocacy & Communication

● Support students’ cultural adjustment and academic confidence.

â—Ź Communicate regularly with parents regarding language development and academic progress.

â—Ź Maintain accurate documentation of language proficiency assessments and student growth.

Faith Integration & School Community

â—Ź Model Christian character, compassion, and respect in all interactions.

Qualifications

Required

● Bachelor’s degree in Education, TESOL, ESL, Linguistics, or a related field.

â—Ź Valid state teaching credential with ESL/TESOL endorsement (or ability to obtain certification).

â—Ź Experience working with English language learners.

â—Ź Strong understanding of second-language acquisition strategies.

● Commitment to the Christian faith and alignment with Brave Christian Schools’ mission and statement of faith.

Preferred

● Master’s degree in TESOL or related field.

â—Ź Experience in a Christian school setting.

â—Ź Bilingual proficiency.

â—Ź Experience with language proficiency assessments and compliance documentation.
