Disaster Relief - Bristol, TN

Operation Blessing (OB) is searching for a Deployment Technician who will play a key role in supporting global disaster relief efforts by assisting field staff and operations during crisis response and long-term recovery efforts. This position requires a high level of readiness to deploy during disaster situations and provide operational support on the ground. During non-deployment periods, the technician will focus on team building, training, and preparedness activities to ensure ongoing readiness for future deployments. Serving in this role supports effective disaster relief operations and advances OB's Biblical mission to extend a helping hand in Christ's name to meet both physical and spiritual needs.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Ability to deploy within hours of activation to disaster situations worldwide
  • Experience leading, training, and coaching large teams in demanding, rapidly changing environments
  • Ability to work independently with minimal infrastructure and resources
  • Willing to work in remote or difficult conditions with limited access to essential services such as running water or electricity
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to follow instructions to maintain a safe environment
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations, demonstrating effective decision-making abilities under pressure
  • Ability to endure long hours of physically demanding work in challenging environments and extreme weather conditions
  • High level of mental fortitude and emotional awareness to effectively manage stress
  • Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity to build positive relationships with local communities
  • Fluency in English required; knowledge of additional languages is highly desirable
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide a volunteer team to successfully complete projects
  • Excellent logistical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks at once while consistently meeting deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills and a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge of and experience with industry-standard inventory and transportation software
  • Ability to make authorized purchases using a department purchasing card in accordance with organizational policy
  • Willingness to obtain necessary vaccinations as required for international travel
  • Physical capability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift up to 60 pounds or more, with strong manual dexterity
  • Valid drivers license with satisfactory driving record
  • Forklift certification
  • CDL "Class A" or "Class B" with Air Brake endorsement or ability to obtain
  • Serve Safe Food Handlers certification or ability to obtain
  • CPR/AED/First Responder preferred
  • Demonstrated life application of Biblical principles and practices in alignment with OB's non-profit Christian mission
