Job description


This role provides fundamental care and services to the patient, family, and the unit environment. The scope of service encompasses patient safety, customer service, providing a safe and clean environment for the surgical patient.
Responsibilities
1. Completes room terminal cleaning for all areas of the OR according to AORN Standards.
2. Calls maintenance for necessary repairs, stocks supplies in room according to standards.
3. Proper cleaning, care and placement of essential equipment needed for scheduled cases. For example: arthroscopy pump, fluoroscopy beds, video equipment and overhead tables, etc.
4. Maintains orderliness and efficiency of the work environment through he performance of:
  • Cleaning: cleaning utility areas, hallways, restrooms, equipment, shelves, cart racks, scrub sinks.

Provides and promote patient and unit safety.
1. Ensures beds/stretchers/carts are in appropriate position for patient's safety.
2. Infection Control: Uses good hand washing and aseptic technique, utilizes universal precautions; adheres to isolation procedures, keeps unit clean, removes equipment from room when no longer in use. Dispose of all waste according to hospital procedures. Transports waste to central location.
3. Safety hazardous are corrected and/or reported to the appropriate person; location of all fire alarms, extinguishers and hoses are known. Spills and hazardous spills are handled according to hospital policy.
4. Understands sterile technique.
All duties and responsibilities of an EVS I and EVS II.
1. Always promotes patient safety.
2. Able to clean patient rooms and discharges as required.
3. Is knowledgeable of all EVS chemicals and procedures.
4. Provides excellent customer service to patients, visitors and staff.
Routine floor maintenance.
1. Is knowledgeable of and trained in the use and maintenance of floor machines, Boost technology, auto-scrubbers and automatic burnishers.
2. Follows the guidelines for dust mopping, wet mopping and spot mopping hard surface corridors in addition to the heavier equipment above.
Confidentiality.
1. Is aware of and follows hospital policy and federal regulations regarding patient confidentiality.
2. Is tested annually on Safety and Confidentiality.
Basic Computer Knowledge.
1. Ability to learn MS Office Outlook for emails.
2. Ability to take and pass required annual Stat Tests.
Communication
1. Performs other duties as required or directed. Cooperation is demonstrated in the performance of other duties within scope of job description; unit meetings are attended when on duty; attends required in-services and education programs as assigned.
2. Adheres to established standards in personal appearance and conduct.
  • Dress code is followed.
  • Conduct is consistent with the ExCEL core values.
  • Attendance is prompt and regular.

Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or G.E.D preferred
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 2 years of working hospital experience required
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Basic reading, writing, and math skills required.
Basic healthcare housekeeping customer service skills required.
Knowledge of computers preferred, but not required.
LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:
OR Tech Certification required. Must go through training and pass test.
CHEST certification within 1 year preferred, but not required.
