Job description

The CHP Scholars Peer Mentor serves as a student leader and mentor for participants in the CHP Scholars Program. Peer Mentors help scholars successfully transition to college by providing encouragement, guidance, and a sense of community. Working closely with a small cohort of students, Peer Mentors support scholars through individual and group meetings, participation in program activities, and ongoing outreach throughout the academic year.

About the CHP Scholars Program

The CHP Scholars Program is a grant-funded initiative that supports a selected cohort of undergraduate students pursuing careers in healthcare. The program provides academic, professional, and personal support through scholarships, mentoring, leadership development, academic success programming, and experiential learning opportunities designed to promote student success, persistence, and career readiness.

Responsibilities

Peer Mentors will:

  • Serve as a positive role model for a small group of CHP Scholars.
  • Build supportive relationships with assigned students through regular one-on-one and small group meetings.
  • Assist students with their transition to Pace University by connecting them with campus resources and encouraging engagement.
  • Attend and actively participate in CHP Scholars events and programming throughout the academic year.
  • Participate in the annual CHP Scholars Summer Immersion Program. For the 2026 cohort, Summer Immersion will be held August 25-28, 2026.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Program Director, CHP Scholars, regarding student needs and program activities.
  • Meet monthly with the Associate Program Director, CHP Scholars, to discuss student progress, share observations, and receive ongoing training and support.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality while serving as a mentor.
