Is LPN a dead-end job?

LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) is a healthcare role that offers opportunities for advancement through additional education and certification, such as becoming an RN (Registered Nurse). While some LPN positions are entry-level, many professionals use this role as a stepping stone to higher-level nursing careers or specialized fields, making it not necessarily a dead-end job.

Why don't hospitals hire LPNs anymore?

Hospitals increasingly prefer registered nurses (RNs) over licensed practical nurses (LPNs) due to the expanded scope of practice and higher level of training required for RNs. LPNs often work in long-term care or outpatient settings, as hospitals focus on hiring RNs for more complex patient care and to meet evolving staffing standards.
