Position Details
General Statement
Montana State University seeks qualified individuals to provide high-quality instruction and to perform related academic duties as needed. Instructional assignments are contingent upon departmental needs and the availability of funding.
Applications are accepted on a continual basis (unless otherwise indicated) and will be maintained in the pool for up to two years. After two years, candidates will be notified to resubmit their application materials for continued consideration.
Application materials will be reviewed by the appropriate search committee or hiring authority, and applicants will be notified if they are being considered for an open position.
Non-tenure-track appointments may be part-time or full-time and vary in duration depending on the specific needs of the department or program. Salary is dependent on the number of courses taught and the duration of the appointment.
Duties and Responsibilities

• Instructors typically teach 1 to 5 classes per semester.
• All positions are pending adequate enrollment and funding.

Required Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

1. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a Foreign University; and
2. A Master's degree or equivalent from a Foreign University in Chinese or a closely related field, or relevant knowledge and experience appropriate to the position (e.g., superior level proficiency; extensive residence abroad, etc.); and
3. Proficiency level in Chinese appropriate to the position.

Preferred Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

1. PhD in Chinese or other relevant discipline.
2. Superior level proficiency in Chinese.
3. Experience teaching at the college level.

The Successful Candidate Will
Have effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate successfully and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, staff, and students.

The Department
Modern Languages & Literatures offers courses in Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, French, German, and Spanish. Students may major or minor in Asian Studies, French & Francophone Studies, German Studies, Hispanic Studies, and Latin American & Latino Studies. Teaching options in French, German, and Spanish are also offered.
