Job description

Job Summary:
Assists the cooks in the preparation of various food items, including cutting vegetables, preparing dressings, and making soups.
Shift Availability:
  • Swing Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM
  • Grave Shift: 7:00 PM - 3:30 AM

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • None

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Maintains a constant awareness of safety and accident prevention, performing all job duties in the safest possible manner, and immediately notifying the supervisor and completing an accident report if a personal accident does occur.
  • Prepares all food products for Buffet
  • Sets up and checks supplies during shifts (plates, bowls, etc.).
  • Keeps the buffet area free of debris and trash at all times.
  • Wipes down the buffet, inside and out, and sweeps the floor as needed.
  • Replenishes food as needed.
  • Serves food items to guests as requested.
  • Assists the cooks in the preparation of various food items, including cutting vegetables, preparing dressings, and making soups.
  • Assists in monitoring products in the freezer, walk-ins, and storerooms, ensuring freshness, rotation, and availability.
  • Assists in quality control of prepared food items.
  • Assists in the buffet to monitor food items, check food temperatures, and change food items when necessary.
  • Ensures quality control of prepared food items.
  • Assists fellow team members in their duties as well as always maintaining high sanitation standards.
  • Communicates any problems or concerns to the Sous Chef or Assistant Executive Chef.
  • Ensures that temperatures of all products and storage areas are checked as required.
  • Ability to follow recipes and daily planning sheets
  • Assist supervisor with putting daily order together when needed
  • Increases knowledge, preparing for promotion to cook.
  • Assists fellow team members in their duties as well as always maintaining high sanitation standards.
  • Keeps the work area clean.
  • Ensures thorough communication between shifts.
  • Remains up to date on all Departmental Policies and Procedures.
  • Understands that schedules are subject to change.
  • Complies with all departmental rules, side work assignments, and departmental procedures.
  • Ability to read and follow recipes and daily production planning sheets
  • Help to orient new team members
  • Performs all other duties specified or assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
  • High School diploma
  • Must possess a sound knowledge of the various Chinese regional cuisines with a basic knowledge of other Asian cuisines, especially Thai, Vietnamese and sushi fabrication.
  • Prior Wok cooking experience is preferred.
  • Prior experience is preferred as well as a proven track record demonstrating sound judgment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Is always clean and neat, in proper uniform, including nametag and slip resistant shoes.
  • Reports to work on time; signs and swipes in properly.
  • Possesses complete knowledge of all procedures related to the job.
  • Ensures that all guests are treated in a prompt, professional and courteous manner.
  • Must possess outstanding interpersonal communications skills to effectively interface with guests and team members.
  • Possesses the ability to work under pressure.
  • Must possess a cooperative, helpful and friendly nature, and present a neat, clean, well-groomed appearance.
  • Must be able to understand Material Safety Data Sheets as required for the position.
  • Ability to communicate with Team members and guests.
  • Ability to be a TEAM player.

Certifications, Licenses, and/or Registrations:
  • Serve Safe certification.
  • Gaming license/registration as required by jurisdiction(s).

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of standing and bending.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and days of the week, including holidays.
  • Ability to work in an environment with moderate to loud noise, bright lights, smoke, and dust.
