As a Supervisor, Volunteer Program Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to oversee o everything from processing applications and conducting interviews to onboarding, orienting, and placing volunteers throughout the hospital, while also supervising our Guest Services Liaisons who staff the main lobby information desks. This position plays a meaningful part in matching dedicated community members with departments that need their support, creating a real impact across the organization.

Location: Banner Thunderbird Med Ctr (5555 W Thunderbird Rd)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for managing, coordinating, and administering volunteer program(s) for an assigned facility or campus, which includes managing, recruiting, training, scheduling and evaluating a diverse group of volunteers in accordance with organizational vision, mission and philosophy. This position promotes and supports volunteerism through community programs and partnerships.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Selects, orients, trains, schedules and evaluates volunteers in applicable Volunteer Services areas. Maintains volunteer staff files as required, including service hours, annual evaluations and in-service training and education. May supervise part-time support staff, providing for leadership and growth opportunities.
2. Develops and implements recruitment, retention and recognition strategies to achieve annual department goals. Designs and implements innovative programs in support of the strategic plan.
3. Oversees and supervises community volunteers and associated in-service programs. Manages volunteer resources and people to achieve the program goals and provide support to Banner programs.
4. Manages and facilitates volunteer training and educational processes. Insures that all volunteers receive service descriptions, training checklists and on-the-job training in their assigned service areas. Completes annual safety education and yearly evaluations for all volunteers.
5. Manages, prepares, and maintains appropriate and accurate statistical data, volunteer files, and program information. Oversees and assures the documentation and maintenance of appropriate statistics, accurate volunteer file maintenance, and compliance with all regulatory and/or accreditation requirements.
6. Manages and facilitates volunteer program development in new service areas by working closely with internal departments to identify areas of opportunity.
7. Participates in/on a variety of committees, teams, and/or other related groups in order to receive and/or convey information.
8. May perform specialized functions based on assigned area of responsibility.
9. This position is responsible for managing applicable volunteer program(s), including the recruitment, application review, interviewing, and orientation of volunteers. This position participates in daily operational activities and coordinates the scheduling of volunteers to ensure the smooth operation of volunteer services. Internal customers include employees and volunteers. External customers include patients, family members, potential volunteers, and the community-at-large.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of applicable principles and practices as normally obtained through the completion of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent and a working knowledge of program management principles and practices as normally demonstrated through a minimum of three years relevant experience.
Must have excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact and provide assistance to a diverse group of individuals. Must have a working knowledge of personal software packages. Skilled in handling multiple tasks simultaneously. Must have the ability to organize, prioritize and multi-task workload in a fast paced environment. Proficient use of written language in composing a variety of presentations, policies, procedures, and other applicable communication pieces. Skilled in maintaining composure and professional demeanor in difficult and stressful situations. Employees working for Banner Home Care AZ must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prior experience working with volunteers in an oversight capacity.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
