Job description

Title: Childcare Aide - Daytime Schedule
Status: Supplemental
Salary: $15.00
Description
Do you have a heart for children and a passion for creating safe, joyful spaces where they can learn and grow? The Fishers Community Center is looking for a caring, attentive, and energetic Childcare Aides to join our onsite childcare team in the Action Zone! In this vital role, you'll help ensure our youngest community members are cared for in a healthy, safe, and nurturing environment. You'll work within established policies and procedures to support the daily operations of our childcare center and bring smiles to little faces every day. This position will primarily work 8:45am - 1:15pm.
Examples of Duties
  • Engage in age-appropriate programing for participants providing a safe, fun and inviting environment in the childcare areas.
  • Actively supervise children and collaborate with team members, offering guidance and stepping in when needed to encourage safe, respectful behavior.
  • Consistently demonstrate positive role modeling and use age-appropriate behavior management techniques through all interactions with program participants.
  • Positively ID legal guardian before releasing children and maintain attendance and sign in/out records.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and safety of toys, furniture, and equipment by following safety guidelines, performing regular checks, and promptly reporting any concerns or needed repairs.
  • Set up equipment for activities and store equipment appropriately after use.
  • Show flexibility in working where needed as numbers of children fluctuate.
  • Assist Youth and Family Manager in implementing periodic family events to develop and maintain positive relationships with children and legal guardians.
  • Ensure safety of patrons and be prepared to take charge in an emergency if necessary. Act as a first responder in the event of an emergency, providing immediate assistance, administering first aid or CPR as needed, and following proper emergency protocols to ensure member and staff safety. Report any emergencies immediately and complete accident reports as necessary.
  • Communicate with legal guardians on the positive aspects of the child's day as well as on any behavior issues.
  • Perform duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be at least 16 years old. One (1) or more years of experience in a childcare environment.
  • Ability to lead group activities in age-appropriate activities and observe children when distracted by noise and activity.
  • The ability to collaboratively solve problems in a way that builds and maintains positive, productive, working relationships with members, employees, and the public.
  • The ability to use age-appropriate behavior management techniques through all interactions with program participants.
  • Must have an Adult CPR/AED, First Aid certifications or ability to obtain within the first 60 days. Training will be provided.
  • Must be able to work in environment with frequent interruptions and background noises.
