Description
  • GENERAL FUNCTION: This position is responsible for meeting the developmental needs of children birth through five years of age in a group setting. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: planning and implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans, providing a safe and secure environment, providing documentation of positive developmental outcomes for students, as well as maintaining positive relations and communications with families, partnership agencies and program staff. Directing a classrooms assistants, aides, and volunteers to meet program standards will make the CDC successful.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
    • Minimum age 18 years of age and high school diploma or equivalent
    • Six months' experience in a licensed child care facility
    • Maintain current CPR, First Aid, and Signs and Symptoms etc. certification or acquire within 30 days of hire
    • Have record of negative TB Screen and Physical within the last 6 months
    • Meet all Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) Regulations
    • 12 hours of observations (5 of 2½ hours each) in a licensed facility with children of the same age as enrolled in the facility that the teacher will be working in.
    • Must attend New Employee Orientation within 30 days of hire

    PREFERRED NAEYC QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Training and education in a professional program, BA, AA, Child Development Associate credential (CDA), in education or 12+ college credits in ECE, Program Directors Approval (PDA) for up to 24 children
    • One year experience in a licensed child care facility

    PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
    • Visual, auditory, and verbal ability to communicate effectively with people and monitor property and activity
    • Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs
    • Must be able to bend and squat repetitively
    • Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods of time
    • Must be able to perform light physical activity
    • Maintain a positive attitude and make the environment an encouraging experience for all
    • Maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times
