Position Summary

This position will oversee both TSW and TSE offices. This role requires a highly organized individual who possesses strong initiative and has the ability to complete multiple projects in a deadline driven environment. This individual must be able to communicate effectively and understands the need to work in an integrated manner with other members of the department in furtherance of goals, objectives, and knowledge.

Job Essentials, Responsibilities, Duties

  • Build, lead, and manage the Integrated Tax and Financial Services (ITFS) team structure.
  • Lead and execute best business practices for tax technology.
  • Track the profitability of the ITFS department.
  • Shape and execute tax planning and strategy in collaboration with the Executive team.
  • Lead meetings with department Directors and Business Management team(s).
  • Champion learning and development initiatives, integrating best business practices related to tax.
  • Collaborate with Tax Director(s) to train the ITFS team and the Business Management teams for preparation and input of tax returns.
  • Develop and implement tax-efficient structures in alignment with the client’s organizational financial goals, ensuring compliance and long-term sustainability.
  • Identify and monitor tax optimization opportunities and strategically leverage available tax incentives for clients.
  • Review, oversee, and prepare complex income tax returns including, but not limited to, Corporations, Partnerships, and Individual returns.
  • Manage performance of the quality control review for all financial statements, ensuring rigorous quality control.
  • Facilitate planning and compliance of international tax matters, including waivers and tax returns.
  • Review and oversee required estimated tax payments.
  • Establish and enforce tax reporting policies and controls, aligning with evolving regulations and best practices by creating, maintaining, relevant policies and procedures.
  • Conduct final review and oversight of year-end shareholder bonus process.
  • Manage final review of tax correspondence; facilitate and oversee tax audits.
  • Ensure full compliance of all annual reports, franchise tax returns, and other state filings.
  • Oversee and manage invoicing for all tax services performed, ensuring accuracy.
  • Review and oversee quarterly and annual payroll tax returns process.
  • Provide strategic leadership to ITFS staff, optimizing support and operations within their assigned business management/accounting team(s).
  • Manage all department deliverables, ensuring alignment with business objectives and client expectations.
  • Review and oversee tax preparation work papers and investment reconciliation, ensuring thoroughness that meets the firm’s/client’s standards.
  • Execute any ad hoc projects, as assigned.

Specific Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Wide range of experience with various types of tax returns, in addition to high level review of financial statements.
  • Proficient use of CCH, QuickBooks, Excel, and other ERP/tax software and technology.

Qualifications

  • Ability to reliably commute and report to the Tri Star office.
  • Must have experience signing financial reviews and tax returns.
  • Active CPA license, required, with preference given to candidates in CA or TN.
  • Bachelor’s in Business, specifically Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
  • Master’s in Taxation, preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in a Tax practice, supporting HNWI with complex tax needs.
  • Experience within a Business Management Firm, Public Accounting Firm, Family Office and/or the Entertainment industry where there would be a good transferability of skills, preferred.
  • Experience managing teams responsible for the preparation and review of complex tax returns, including Forms 1120, 1120S, 1040, 1041, and others, required.
  • Experience building, mentoring, and developing tax teams.
