About the Position The City of Brownsville Police Department is seeking a Police Chief, this exceptional law enforcement executive will inherit a department that is financially strong, operationally stable, technologically advanced, and deeply respected by both its employees and the community. Over the past seven years, Brownsville has intentionally transformed its Police Department into a modern organization grounded in accountability, innovation, constitutional policing, and a philosophy that guides every decision: Service from the Heart. Qualified candidates will possess: Twenty (20) years of progressively responsible commissioned law enforcement experience Seven (7) years of executive or command-level leadership experience Demonstrated success leading a full-service law enforcement organization Experience with budgeting, strategic planning, labor relations, and organizational development Experience working within Texas civil service and collective bargaining environments is highly desirable Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Master Peace Officer Certification Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred Graduation from a nationally recognized executive law enforcement leadership program such as the FBI National Academy, LEMIT Leadership Command College, FBI-LEEDA, IACP Leadership in Police Organizations, or equivalent.
