As a Chief Operating Officer, you are a part of Select Medical’s Administrator In-Training program. We are looking for valued employees who will be Champions of the Select Medical Way, which includes putting the patient first, helping to improve quality of life for the community in which you live and work, continuing to develop and explore new ideas, providing high-quality care and doing well by doing what is right.

The program is designed to provide a hands-on understanding of a CEO’s role and responsibilities within the hospital and overall organization. It also educates candidates on a CEO’s goals and objectives and key relationships that need to be forged and developed in order to be become an effective, high-performing hospital CEO.

The year-long program covers four key areas: orientation, enculturation, administrative onboarding and support. During that time, candidates will be immersed in training across a range of areas, including:

  • Clinical services
  • Case management
  • Medical staff relations
  • Marketing
  • Regulatory compliance
  • Financial management
  • Human resources

Training is conducted at designated sites nationwide and supported by dedicated mentors who help educate and onboard the candidate throughout the program.


Minimum requirements:

  • A Master's Degree
  • Three (3) years managerial experience in a healthcare institution.
  • Specific management functions of finance, strategic planning, and community education of health programs.

Preferred qualifications that will make you successful:

  • Operational leadership experience in an acute care or specialty hospital setting.

All candidates who successfully complete the program must be willing to relocate in order to accept a new CEO post.
