Job Summary

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will lead and oversee the operational strategy and day-to-day execution across our Anytime Fitness locations. This executive will ensure consistent brand delivery, operational efficiency, franchisee success, and an exceptional member experience. The COO will work directly with the CEO and leadership team to scale the business, improve performance metrics, and drive growth through strategic initiatives and employee support.

Key Responsibilities Operations Management
  • Oversee daily operations of franchised Anytime Fitness locations
  • Ensure operational consistency, cleanliness, safety, and compliance with Anytime Fitness brand standards
  • Lead process improvement and SOP implementation across all locations
Franchise Support & Performance
  • Develop strong partnerships with employees, vendors, members and other franchise owners to improve performance, retention, and profitability
  • Establish KPIs and performance benchmarks for franchisees; provide ongoing coaching and resources
  • Lead initiatives for franchise onboarding, compliance, and brand integrity enforcement
Growth & Expansion
  • Collaborate on franchise development strategy, site selection, and market analysis
  • Lead operational planning and execution for new club openings and territory expansion
  • Oversee integration of new clubs into operational systems and training programs
Team Leadership & Culture
  • Build and lead a high-performing operations team, including Regional Managers and Club Support staff
  • Drive a culture of accountability, excellence, and customer focus across all levels
  • Develop and manage training systems for club managers, personal trainers, and support staff
Financial Oversight
  • Collaborate with finance to develop and manage operating budgets, forecasts, and P&L targets
  • Monitor revenue streams including memberships, personal training, and retail
  • Identify opportunities to optimize operating costs while maintaining service quality
Technology & Systems
  • Oversee implementation and optimization of gym management systems (e.g., ABC Fitness Solutions, Club OS)
  • Use data and reporting tools to track performance and member engagement
  • Leverage tech solutions to enhance the member experience and operational efficiency
Member Experience
  • Ensure clubs deliver a consistent, high-quality member experience across the network
  • Drive initiatives to improve Net Promoter Score (NPS), member retention, and engagement
  • Champion a customer-first approach to service delivery and problem resolution
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of senior operational leadership, preferably within fitness, franchising, or multi-location retail
  • Proven experience supporting franchise businesses or managing large, distributed teams
  • Deep understanding of fitness club operations, member engagement, and P&L responsibility
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; able to motivate, coach, and build trust across diverse teams
  • Data‑driven decision maker with a hands‑on approach to problem‑solving
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field (MBA preferred)
Preferred Experience
  • Previous experience in the Anytime Fitness system or a comparable 24/7 gym franchise
  • Familiarity with systems like ABC Ignite, MyZone, or CRM/scheduling software for fitness
  • Track record of scaling operations and improving franchisee performance
  • Passion for fitness, wellness, and community‑building
