CGL is a provider of justice facility planning, design, and program management and maintenance solutions to justice facilities and other public facilities throughout the U.S. and internationally. CGL Facility Management, LLC provides comprehensive contract facility maintenance services to commercial clients.
A Brief Overview
The Chief Maintenance Engineer (CME) is responsible for fulfilling the technical aspects of the maintenance contract, ensuring that facilities are well maintained and operable, and for managing the maintenance staff under her/his supervision. She/he serves as the technical spokesperson for the facility during client meetings and serves the role of lead technician. Assigns and schedules work, answers questions, and serves as primary quality control inspector. The CME may spend up to 80% of her/his time performing work orders as required. Interfaces with subcontractors on all requisitioned work assignments to achieve full contract compliance.
What you will do
  • Reviews job requests and work orders daily to determine workload priorities.
  • Assigns work to staff and monitors progress towards completion.
  • Performs corrective and preventive maintenance activities on systems to provide continuous performance of HVAC, electricity, gas, life safety, security, and other systems required for operations.
  • Performs routine facility inspections for conformance with operational and safety requirements and standards.
  • Performs general trades work in facility as required.
  • Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations.
  • Informs and confers with Regional Manager to resolve facility problems and personnel issues.
  • Keeps client and CGL Facility Management informed of the progress and status of all open work orders, projects, staff attendance, and other activities to help ensure adequate use of resources and timely completion of work orders in a cost-effective manner.
  • Becomes familiar and ensures compliance with OSHA regulations and standards.
  • Interacts professionally with the public, vendors and staff; maintains effective working relationships and works in cooperation with the site management team to effectively meet agency and CGL objectives.
  • Responds to all emergencies as requested in compliance with contract requirements.
  • Ensures proper documentation in computer based predictive & preventive maintenance management systems (CMMS) of work performed and maintains accurate records.
  • Prepares records, reports, and other documentation related to work performed and personnel management in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Must respond to after-hours emergency calls from clients. Appropriate accommodations will be made for both time spent and associated costs incurred in response to after-hours situations.
  • Must maintain a clean and safe workplace while and after performing maintenance tasks.
  • Assists in training technicians in unlike skillsets on basics of your trade, providing mentorship, oversight, and direction.
  • This position requires driving for the Company using either 1) a Company vehicle, at any frequency from Rarely to Constantly; or, 2) a Personal or Rental vehicle to conduct Company business more than 50% of the time to perform work duties.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent) Required and
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred
  • 4-6 years skilled maintenance and/or commercial experience Required
  • A broad knowledge and use of computer based predictive & preventive maintenance management systems.
  • A broad knowledge of the various skilled trades. Licensed in one or more disciplines preferred.
  • Must be able to read blueprints and as-built drawings.
  • Must be skilled in the use of hand and power tools and test equipment; and be able to diagnose equipment problems, make repairs, test equipment, and properly maintain records.
  • Must be a team player, have strong work ethic, positive attitude, and desire to succeed while representing our firm with the best possible service to our clients.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must provide outstanding customer service to meet the needs of our client.
  • Requires a self-motivated, team player who pays close attention to detail and who can prioritize in a fast-moving environment.
  • Must demonstrate ability to multi-task; prioritize effectively and strong technical knowledge with a positive and service-oriented attitude.
  • Must motivate, delegate, and provide constructive feedback as appropriate to a team.
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to interact effectively with a wide range of different people in a variety of situations.
