About the Role:

The Chief Maintenance role is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing all maintenance operations within an organization to ensure optimal functionality, safety, and efficiency of facilities and equipment. This role involves strategic planning, resource allocation, and the implementation of maintenance programs that minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of assets. The Chief Maintenance will lead a team of maintenance professionals, coordinating with other departments to support operational goals and compliance with regulatory standards. They will analyze maintenance data to drive continuous improvement initiatives and manage budgets to optimize costs without compromising quality. Ultimately, this position ensures that all maintenance activities align with the organization's objectives, promoting a safe and productive work environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in maintenance management or a similar leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance best practices, safety regulations, and compliance standards.
  • Proven experience managing teams and coordinating cross-functional projects.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related discipline.
  • Certification in Maintenance Management (e.g., Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional - CMRP).
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and data analytics tools.
  • Background in industrial, manufacturing, or large-scale facility maintenance.
  • Demonstrated success in budget management and cost optimization.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance strategies and preventive maintenance programs across all facilities and equipment.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the maintenance team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations to build a high-performing workforce.
  • Coordinate with operations, safety, and engineering departments to ensure maintenance activities support production schedules and comply with safety regulations.
  • Oversee maintenance budgets, procurement of materials, and vendor relationships to ensure cost-effective and timely maintenance services.
  • Analyze maintenance metrics and reports to identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills:

The Chief Maintenance will utilize technical expertise and leadership skills daily to develop and execute maintenance plans that ensure operational reliability. Strong analytical skills are essential for interpreting maintenance data and driving improvements that reduce downtime and costs. Communication skills are critical for effectively collaborating with internal teams and external vendors, as well as for leading and motivating the maintenance staff. Proficiency with maintenance management software enables efficient scheduling, tracking, and reporting of maintenance activities. Additionally, problem-solving skills are applied regularly to address unexpected equipment failures and to implement preventive measures that enhance overall asset performance.
