Chief Learning Officer Remote information

What are some common challenges faced by a chief learning officer working remotely, and how can they be addressed?

A Chief Learning Officer (CLO) working remotely often faces challenges such as maintaining strong connections with dispersed teams, ensuring consistent learning standards across locations, and effectively communicating the organization’s learning vision. Overcoming these hurdles requires leveraging digital collaboration tools, establishing clear communication channels, and fostering a culture of continuous learning that transcends physical boundaries. Regular virtual check-ins, interactive online training sessions, and data-driven monitoring of learning outcomes are effective strategies to ensure alignment and engagement in a remote environment.

What does a chief learning officer do in a remote role?

A Chief Learning Officer (CLO) in a remote role is responsible for developing and overseeing the learning and development strategy of an organization, often coordinating virtual programs and resources for employees across different locations. They ensure that employees have access to training, skill development, and continuous learning opportunities that align with business goals. The CLO collaborates with leadership, manages learning technologies, and measures the impact of educational initiatives, all while supporting a culture of growth in a virtual work environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a chief learning officer in a remote environment?

To thrive as a Chief Learning Officer (CLO) remotely, you need a strong background in learning and development strategy, instructional design, and organizational leadership, often supported by advanced degrees in education, HR, or business. Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS), digital collaboration tools, and data analytics platforms is essential. Outstanding communication, influence, and change management skills help a CLO inspire teams and drive initiatives in virtual settings. These capabilities ensure effective learning cultures, measurable talent development, and alignment with business objectives across distributed organizations.

**A note before you read further**

The world is changing fast, and so is this role. We can't fully tell you what this job looks like in six months. That's true of every role at Human Agency right now. What we need from you, no matter what: accountability, curiosity, and a builder-first mindset. If that sounds exciting, keep reading. If it sounds intimidating but you're still interested, let's talk. If none of that sounds like you, that's okay. This probably isn't your spot.

About Human Agency

We're scaling rapidly and have a growing pipeline of opportunities that demand exceptional talent across disciplines. Our mission is to bring on individuals, from creative producers to technical experts to entrepreneurial leaders, who can help us realize this next chapter of growth.

We are a company of doers. Leaders roll up their sleeves, teams work flat, and everyone contributes to what ships. Titles don't insulate us from feedback or basics. We invite critique, learn quickly, and keep raising the bar. The best ideas win here, no matter where they come from, because clients trust us to deliver the strongest outcomes every time.

Our clients' missions, products, and bottom lines are sacred. We immerse ourselves in their world, becoming stewards of their goals and partners in solving big problems. Every product, strategy, or asset we create must be both beautiful and functional; practical, usable, and designed for real-world impact.

Humans are our most valuable resource, and we only grow by hiring people who push us forward. Across strategy, engineering, design, data, and operations, we seek out teammates who raise the bar and make us better. Always hire up, never down.

We partner with organizations of all sizes to explore, design, and implement AI strategies that are secure, scalable, and human-centered. We believe AI should amplify human potential, not replace it - and we build with that conviction in every engagement. From advisory and tooling to implementation and education, we meet clients where they are and help them integrate AI in ways that align with their mission and values. Our goal is to empower teams to work smarter, move faster, and unlock new possibilities through thoughtful, responsible innovation.

And through it all, we lead with purpose, love, and adventure. We do meaningful work with people we care about, and we make the ride an adventure worth taking. Because at Human Agency, who we are and how we work are one and the same.

 The Opportunity

You are an entrepreneur. That's the ground-level truth. We're hiring someone who is mostly going to be building and running their own venture within Human Agency's studio - and who also sets the rules for how ventures flow across the entire studio. You run the weekly studio meetings. You are the lead critique. You own the accountability. You convince us that something is working or tell us it's not.

This is a CEO and product person rolled into one, with sales ability. If you've seen Every's venture studio model - that's the profile. Former CEO. Product-obsessed. Builder. Not a bureaucrat who likes to "run the thing." A person who likes to build the thing.

What You'll Own
  • Build and operate your own venture from zero to one within the Human Agency studio
  • Set the framework and cadence for how ventures are evaluated, funded, and scaled across the studio
  • Run weekly studio syncs - you are the point of accountability across all active ventures
  • Sell. Whether it's selling the vision to partners, customers, or investors - you close.
  • Deploy AI and agents as core infrastructure in everything you build - not as a feature, as the foundation

Who You Are
  • Proven experience as a founder, CEO, or product leader who shipped real products
  • Sales DNA - you can get in a room and move people
  • AI-native builder - you've built with AI, not just used it. Show us.
  • Comfort with ambiguity at every level - from "what should we build?" to "this thing is on fire"
  • Zero interest in process for process's sake. You build. You ship. You iterate.

Equal Opportunity Commitment

Human Agency is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We value diverse perspectives and are committed to building inclusive, high-performing teams where everyone can do their best work.
