Position Overview

The Senior Crew Chief is responsible for the overall execution of daily assigned project tasks. This position supervises survey crew employees ensuring all work is completed efficiently and successfully, all while following established McAdams's guidelines for field work delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Knowledgeable of the various disciplines of construction staking / surveying and accurately and effectively perform required tasks during a project
  • Follow company standards and guidelines for surveying and / or construction staking
  • Provide technical guidance to other Geomatics team members
  • Knowledgeable of the various disciplines of construction staking / surveying that are needed to accurately and effectively perform required tasks
  • Lead and coordinate the daily activities of multiple crews on large projects and ensure daily project goals are met
  • Possess the technical knowledge to identify and resolve issues promptly and effectively
  • Competence of the functions of CAD and Carlson Software; familiarity with the process and function of field to finish, construction staking computations, and traverse adjustments
  • Provide clear and concise direction to fellow crew members and ensure crew members perform daily tasks and interact with clients in a professional manner
  • Responsible for all assigned survey equipment. Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and cared for
  • Inform group manager when instrument calibrations are needed to ensure continual accuracy in work
  • Maintain assigned work vehicle. Ensure regular vehicle maintenance is being performed
  • Ensure work vehicle is kept clean, free of dents and dings so to maintain a positive company image
  • Mentor and train junior Geomatics team members and staff
  • Communicate respectfully with clients or project neighbors to insure a positive company image
  • Maintain good client relations to foster and perpetuate a long term relationship
  • Maintaining a safe work environment for all crew members. Assist with executing JHA's, participate with pre and post job briefs. Speak up when potential hazards or unsafe work conditions are identified

Skills + Experience

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Demonstrate core competencies of the Crew Chief II position
  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience as a Crew Chief in a survey related field
  • Demonstrate knowledge of field procedures and processes as relates to surveying and / or construction staking
  • Knowledge of TDS Software, Trimble Robotics, GPS equipment, Carlson Software, and Leica Robotics
  • Punctual and dependable
  • Hardworking and detail-oriented
  • Successful completion of a functional assessment
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Successfully pass a motor vehicle records check, drug test, and functional assessment

  • Must be able to carry, lift and push/pull up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to stand up or walk between 8-12 hours a day.
  • Must have the ability to see, smell, hear, talk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel and twist, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, sit, stand, and walk.
  • Weekend and overtime and/or overnight work and travel may be required.
  • Additional physical duties may be required as necessary.
