Job Description
Our client is seeking a skilled SD-WAN Engineer to join their team in a contract capacity. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience designing, implementing, and managing Software-Defined Wide Area Networks (SD-WAN), and will play a crucial role in optimizing network performance and enhancing connectivity across multiple locations.
In this role, the SD-WAN Engineer will support the ongoing operation of security infrastructure tied to the client''s products, including configuration, updates, and support. The position is based on-site at the customer''s premises, where the engineer will work closely with customer personnel and the client''s support team.
Due to the highly specialized nature of this engagement, deep knowledge of SD-WAN and ADVPN functionality on the FortiGate firewall platform โ€” using the latest mature features โ€” is required, including experience orchestrating those configurations through FortiManager. Fortinet-specific SD-WAN and ADVPN features are a must.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and manage SD-WAN solutions to ensure reliable and efficient connectivity.
  • Configure network devices and perform regular system updates.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external customers to understand network needs and provide technical support.
  • Oversee network deployment and maintenance operations.
  • Ensure network security and compliance with industry standards.
  • Prepare, review, and validate client product configurations.
  • Develop and maintain best-practice diagnostic procedures to ensure effective operations and maintenance.
  • Investigate and resolve problems in collaboration with customer personnel and the client''s support team.
  • Perform network-related testing to verify operation within the customer''s environment.
  • Troubleshoot network issues and act as a local point of contact for incidents.
  • Assist with open support tickets through the client''s support organization.
  • Provide procedures and requirements for upgrading the client''s software.
  • Track inventory of hardware and software revisions.
Required Experience/Skills
  • Professional understanding of SD-WAN and network security.
  • Certifications in FortiGate Firewalls and SD-WAN technologies.
  • Experience with Fortinet Secure SD-WAN technologies.
  • Experience with Nexus switch configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in Palo Alto and/or Firepower firewall configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of Cisco Wireless Controllers and wireless 802.11 troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Cisco Spaces, Cisco Routers & Switches, and Cisco DNA.
  • Ability to debug and troubleshoot VPNs, and perform PCAP and log analysis.
  • Experience with Cherwell for problem or project ticket management.
Nice-to-Haves
  • Cisco Collaboration or Webex/Call Manager experience.
  • Cisco Contact Center configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Cisco Umbrella configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Cisco ThousandEyes configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Viptela (Cisco SD-WAN).

Education
