Job description

We are looking for a Senior Chemical Engineer to join a state-of-the-art EV/Hybrid battery recycler. This position will be responsible for the development and implementation of new processes and products as multiple lithium-ion battery recycling facilities are established across the US, as well as the oversight of existing projects. The ideal candidate will have experience with process design, chemical synthesis, and process control. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing a wide range of projects that are critical to the companyโ€™s growth.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, installation, and commissioning of chemical processes and equipment.
  • Provide ongoing process support for plant operation and maintenance.
  • Support materials and analytical lab development and operation
  • Own process deliverables for Front End Engineering Design through EPC project phase such as flowsheets, P&IDs, process modeling, control narratives, HAZOPs, etc.
  • Evaluate and recommend new process technologies to improve recycling and refining, including both technical and economics/financial considerations.
  • Work with internal and external resources to scale processes from lab to commercial
  • Support the development of new technology, processes and equipment.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 5+ yearsโ€™ experience working in an industrial chemical processing environment
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Chemical Engineering or related technical discipline
  • Experience with capital projects
  • Experience working with EPCโ€™s to execute projects
  • Experience scaling processes from R&D to Pilot to Commercial scale
  • Ability to work with and manage external resources to facilitate projects
  • Experience in hydrometallurgy, mineral extraction and separation
  • Experience in waste water treatment and pollution control systems a plus
  • Background in mining & minerals and/or battery recycling processes a plus
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required

Work Environment/Conditions:

Office Location:ย Work from Home (WFH)

Travel: 20% - 50% to plant site

Plant:ย Necessary to follow safety protocols and procedures in our and our customer plants. Important to interact with all levels of specialists, team leaders and department managers.
