What You Will Do

  • Technical Leadership: Guiding the development team in technical decision-making, ensuring best practices, and maintaining high code quality.
  • Architecture and Design: Designing and maintaining the architecture of software systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance align with project goals.
  • Code Reviews and Mentorship: Reviewing code to ensure adherence to standards and mentoring team members to improve their technical skills and knowledge.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with other teams, such as product managers, designers, and stakeholders, to align technical implementations with business objectives.
  • Problem-Solving: Addressing and resolving technical challenges, debugging issues, and implementing effective solutions.
  • Project Planning: Assisting in project planning, estimating timelines, and managing technical risks to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Innovation: Staying updated with emerging technologies and practices to incorporate innovative solutions into projects.
  • Documentation: Ensuring proper documentation of code, systems, and processes for maintainability and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum 8 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience with Java.
  • Experience with Agile Java software development methodologies, Atlassian tools, and Object-Oriented design.
  • Experience with architecture on large-scale production systems.
  • Active and transferable TS/SCI U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. Citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a clearance.


Qualifications We Prefer

  • A STEM degree - preferably in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
  • Experience with Git, Chef, Ruby, Python, Groovy, SQL and NoSQL databases, AWS (S3, SQS, SNS) Apache Felix, Apache Velocity, Spring Boot, Spring Integration, Spring Framework, Docker, Kubernetes and Hibernate.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate Certification.
  • Experience working with senior program leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to work with individual contributors across multiple disciplines.
  • Experience and proficiency in Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Jenkins job definitions, and Artifactory.
  • Experience as a Bitbucket Project Administrator.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to lead and facilitate discussions in a team-oriented environment.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
