Job description

Game On, Boston's premier spot for all things Sport, is looking for a hungry Junior Sous Chef to join our team.

Junior Sous Chef Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading by example, teaching & training of staff in proper procedure and execution
  • Earning the respect of the kitchen staff
  • Fill in for the Executive Chef and Sous Chef in planning and directing food preparation when necessary
  • Experience with wood or coal fired pizza a plus but we'll train
  • Critical thinking, resourcefulness and the ability to solve any issues that arise and seize control of any problematic situation
  • Management of the line during busy shifts while ensuring that the kitchen operates in a timely manner that meets our quality standards + establish working schedule and assess staff's performance
  • Cooking on the line during busy shifts along side the Executive Chef and the line cooks while following company standards and plating specifications
  • Overseeing prep/production and ensuring proper set up for regular service, private parties & marketing events
  • Set-up for brunch, lunch, dinner service and/or private parties and marketing events and successful execution of said events and service segments
  • Maintain organization, cleanliness and sanitation of the line, all food prep and production areas and equipment while complying with and enforcing City of Boston sanitation regulations and safety guidelines
  • Closing of the line and kitchen, verifying work completed by the cooks and dishwashers
  • Generating prep/production lists, placing orders and tracking inventory
  • Maintaining a positive attitude in a high stress environment
  • The ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with entire restaurant team from dishwashers to management, back and front of the house and comporting ones self in a professional manner while at work
  • Private event and party function prep, oversight and execution

Skills Required

  • Proven experience as a Junior Sous Chef or Lead Line cook with references
  • Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
  • Excellent record of kitchen and staff management with references
  • Accuracy and speed in handling emergency situations and providing solutions
  • Familiar with industry's best practices
  • Culinary degree a plus but not a requirement
