About This Role

We are looking for a skilled Cook/Chef to join our Early Childhood Team in Mansfield, CT. You will prepare fresh food for breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks, keep the kitchen clean, and follow all safety rules. The center is licensed for 118 children.


What You'll Do
  • Cook menu items with care and speed
  • Prep ingredients, chop vegetables according to age groups
  • Ability to cook from scratch meals
  • Keep work areas clean and safe
  • Follow food safety and hygiene rules
  • Wash dishes and pots/pans after each meal service
  • Work well with other team members
  • Create weekly menus
  • Ordering of food per week
  • All other duties pertaining to kitchen responsibilities and food preparation

Requirements

Past experience working in a kitchen environment

High school diploma or training from a culinary school

  • Knowledge of basic cooking methods
  • Ability to stand for long hours
  • ServeSafe food handling certificate
  • Follow CACFP rules and regulations
  • Attendance at monthly staff meetings required
