Job Summary
As a part of the Sendik's team, the Cheese Associate is responsible for delivering "best in class" customer service to all guests in the Cheese Department. The main responsibility of the Cheese Associate is to prepare, package and price cheese and various products for our Cheese Department. The Cheese Associate will also assist in miscellaneous duties, including, but not limited to, participating in passive and active cheese demonstrations, stocking and rotating product and cleaning.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Serve customers in the Cheese Department while modeling Sendik's culture and providing "best in class" customer service, which includes, greeting, engaging, delighting and thanking every guest for their business
  • Assist customers with answering questions and making recommendations
  • Assist customers in discovering Sendik's extensive cheese offerings through active sampling and educational programs
  • Prepare, package and price cheese and various products for the Cheese Department
  • Participate in active and passive cheese demonstrations
  • Assist with maintaining the back stock including; rotating stock, dating and cleaning
  • Assist Cheese Department with stocking, rotating and facing the cheese case
  • Assist with the training and mentoring of new associates in the Cheese Department
  • Operate, maintain and clean equipment including knives, scales and wrappers
  • Maintain sanitation log
  • Assist with the training and mentoring of new associates in the Cheese Department
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety/sanitation regulations and procedures
  • Assist with all other Cheese Department duties as needed

  • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age due to required operation of Cheese equipment
  • Eagerness to interact with customers
  • Strong sense of team - ability to anticipate the needs of the team
  • Ability to work at a fast paced and efficient manner
  • Ability to take initiative and make decisions independently regarding department needs and priorities, under general supervision
  • Excellent time management, prioritization and organization skills
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, bend, push/pull for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
