What is a cheer gym?

A cheer gym is a specialized facility where athletes train in cheerleading, which combines elements of dance, gymnastics, stunting, and tumbling. These gyms provide structured classes, coaching, and practice space for both recreational and competitive cheerleaders of various age groups and skill levels. Cheer gyms often participate in local, regional, and national competitions, and they place a strong emphasis on teamwork, athleticism, and safety.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a cheer gym coach, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Cheer Gym Coach, you need a solid understanding of cheerleading techniques, physical fitness, and safety protocols, often supported by coaching certifications or experience in gymnastics or cheer. Familiarity with training equipment, choreography software, and first aid/CPR certifications are typically required. Excellent leadership, motivational, and communication skills help coaches inspire athletes and foster teamwork. These abilities are crucial for developing athletes’ skills safely, creating a positive gym culture, and achieving team goals.

What are some common challenges cheer gym coaches face when working with teams of varying skill levels?

Cheer gym coaches often face the challenge of balancing differing skill levels within a team, ensuring that beginners receive the support they need while still pushing advanced athletes to improve. It's important to create inclusive training sessions that cater to a range of abilities, which may require adapting lesson plans and providing individualized feedback. Coaches must also foster teamwork and positive communication, helping athletes build confidence and trust in one another. Effective time management and clear goal-setting are key to maintaining team progress.

Job description

Deal Makers Wanted - Get Paid Like the BestIf you're grinding out calls selling season tickets for a mediocre team, an ops person with a background in sales, someone working in the cheer or dance industry with a knack for selling, or working in any other job that requires people skills and a high tolerance for sales rejection, we want to talk to you.
We're especially interested in people who know the cheer and/or dance market-whether you've sold into it, worked for a gym or studio, coached, managed operations, or built relationships throughout the industry. We're hunting winners. Our pay is top-tier: sellers who hit quota (yes, others do) make $160K+ OTE, plus benefits and a 401(k) match. No cap. No ceiling. Just upside.
Who We Are:At Baseline, we're building business software for sports people, and it's no small feat.
At this very moment, our target user is making their weekly schedule in a Google doc, running a quarter million through their personal Venmo, and promoting their business on a Squarespace that looks like it was built a decade ago.
That includes cheer gyms and dance studios managing classes, teams, private lessons, camps, events, payments, staff, and families across a patchwork of systems.
To say we're evangelists bringing best business practices enlightenment to those who have never seen the light is not hyperbole. At Baseline, we preach that using 7 software solutions to run your business is a cardinal sin, collecting payments before providing services is common sense, automated reminder text messages are a basic courtesy, and marketing is more than hoping people tell their friends.
Fortunately, we came well prepared on this pilgrimage.
  • We are domain experts; our support staff has spent nothing short of decades in the industry.
  • We do all our own stunts; our dev team is in-house and in the United States.
  • We're venture-backed; the people who have been around the block a few times are betting on us.

Our team is battle-tested and lean. We're looking for mission-focused people eager to join us in the trenches of the early-stage startup world.
The Gig:Convincing someone to make a jump equivalent of going from Google Sheets to Salesforce is not for the faint of heart. We expect you to be quick on your feet and able to solve problems. To put it in a phrase, we're looking for a jack of all trades, master of none.
If you come from the cheer or dance world, you'll be able to speak the customer's language and understand the unique challenges of running a gym or studio. We want you to turn that industry knowledge into trust, relationships, and ultimately new Baseline customers.
At the end of the day, we're a product-led company that is always striving to achieve perfect product market fit. We believe in recursive iteration and endless refinement of the user experience. Be prepared to be user-obsessed.
Why You'll Love It Here:
  • Generous Base + Uncapped Glory: Your effort directly translates to your earnings. Sky's the limit.
  • Work How You Live: Remote flexibility and hours that bend around your life, not the other way around.
  • Be a Competitor: We aren't the only ones working on this problem, but we are the ones who will win.
  • Know the Market: If you've spent time in cheer or dance, you'll have the opportunity to use your industry knowledge, relationships, and experience to help us grow in these markets.
  • The People: You become who you surround yourself with. We only hire force multipliers for that very reason.

Your Mission, Should You Choose to Accept:
  • Chase down leads and lock in clients who can't wait to be transformed by our tech.
  • Build relationships with cheer gyms, dance studios, and other youth sports businesses.
  • Be relentless in your outreach, making every pitch count.
  • Get down in the trenches at industry events, competitions, conferences, and trade shows, and network like your career depends on it.
  • Complete ownership of the entire sales cycle, basic account setup, and onboarding.
  • Use your knowledge of the cheer and/or dance industry to understand customer pain points and position Baseline as a better way to run their business.
  • Recursively iterate with the team; bring ideas to the table that improve the user experience.

What It Takes:
  • Proven track record in sales, especially where you've had to hustle for every win.
  • Experience in the cheer and/or dance industry is strongly preferred.
  • Experience selling to, working for, or working closely with cheer gyms, dance studios, gym/studio owners, directors, coaches, or operators is a major plus.
  • Existing relationships or a strong network within the cheer and/or dance community is a plus.
  • Experience in or the drive to thrive in a high-speed, early-stage startup environment.
  • A passion for sports and tech, with a relentless drive to see both succeed.
  • Humility to accept when mistakes were made, accept ownership, and move forward.
  • Above all, we're looking for generalists who take initiative and have problem-solving skills.

The Baseline Promise:
Yes, the days can be long, and the work demanding, but the rewards? Unparalleled. You're not just working; you're on a team competing for the controlling share in a market where everything is in the air.
You'll also have the opportunity to help Baseline expand further into the cheer and dance markets and play a direct role in shaping how we sell to and serve those customers.
We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, gender identity, marital or veteran status, or any other protected class.
