Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Communications Technician / Shop Manager to oversee daily O&M operations at the Bren Mar shop in Alexandria, VA, executing tasking and service tickets under the direction of the TACCOM O&M Section Chief to keep DHS’s LMR subscriber and infrastructure equipment fully mission capable.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations and maintenance tasks as directed by the TACCOM O&M Section Chief through taskings and service tickets
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on LMR user radios and ancillary equipment to manufacturer specifications
  • Manage depot-level maintenance and repair operations, including firmware updates, code plug programming, and OTAR/network affiliation testing
  • Maintain a five-business-day door-to-door turnaround for radio maintenance and repair
  • Conduct quality assurance sampling of at least 10% of processed equipment
  • Manage encryption key handling, including removal prior to shipment, in accordance with DHS requirements
  • Supervise shop staff and coordinate shipping/receiving of subscriber equipment for repair and redeployment
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated expertise in the technical operations of the Land Mobile Radio (LMR) system and related operational requirements
  • Hands-on experience performing preventive and corrective maintenance on P25/LMR subscriber and infrastructure equipment
  • Minimum 10 years supporting public safety or tactical communications systems, including Motorola P25 systems
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust suitability determination
  • U.S. citizenship required
