What is a channel partner manager?

A Channel Partner Manager is a professional responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with a company’s channel partners, such as resellers, distributors, or agencies. Their main goal is to drive business growth through these partners by supporting them with tools, training, and resources. Channel Partner Managers collaborate closely with sales and marketing teams to ensure partners are aligned with company objectives and able to effectively sell products or services. They often analyze partner performance, address challenges, and identify new partnership opportunities to expand market reach.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a channel partner manager?

To thrive as a Channel Partner Manager, you need a strong background in sales, business development, and relationship management, often supported by a relevant degree or equivalent experience. Familiarity with CRM systems like Salesforce, partner management platforms, and sometimes certifications in sales or channel management are typical requirements. These skills are vital for building productive partnerships, driving revenue growth, and aligning partner activities with organizational goals.

Built for a global market from day one, AfterShip operates with an engineering-driven, internationally distributed team. The company employs more than 450 people across 8 offices, spanning North America, Europe, and Asia, and representing over 20 cities worldwide.

Your Mission:

We're looking for a Channel Growth Manager to build and scale new Shopify pipeline-generation channels from the ground up.

This is a high-ownership, builder-mode role for someone who thrives in zero-to-one environments. You'll own the strategy, design, execution, and scaling of new growth programs - with executive sponsorship, resources, and a clear mandate to experiment, learn, and build repeatable acquisition channels.

You'll work closely with Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, Partnerships, and executive leadership to create programs that generate qualified Shopify pipeline and strengthen AfterShip's presence within the ecommerce ecosystem.

This role reports to the Manager of Strategic Partnerships and is remote, with a preference for candidates based in North America. Some flexibility in working hours may be required to collaborate with global teams across North America, Europe, and Asia.

What You'll Do:

  • Build and launch new Shopify-focused growth programs from the ground up, creating scalable channels that generate qualified pipeline beyond AfterShip's existing inbound and outbound motions.
  • Identify, recruit, and build relationships with key ecosystem partners, including technology providers, agencies, and other Shopify-focused organizations that can help drive merchant acquisition.
  • Develop partner enablement materials, referral frameworks, and incentive structures that make it easy for partners to understand AfterShip's value and generate opportunities.
  • Define the strategy, roadmap, and operating model for each growth initiative, starting with focused pilots and scaling programs based on proven results.
  • Establish tracking and reporting frameworks to measure performance across the full growth funnel, from outreach and engagement through referrals, pipeline generation, and revenue impact.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Partnerships, Customer Success, and Product teams to align growth initiatives with company priorities and customer needs.
  • Analyze program performance, identify optimization opportunities, and continuously iterate on messaging, processes, and incentives to improve outcomes.
  • Build repeatable playbooks and processes that allow successful growth channels to scale globally across AfterShip's ecommerce ecosystem.

Who We're Looking For:

  • 5+ years of experience in growth, partnerships, business development, customer marketing, or similar roles within a SaaS, ecommerce, or technology environment.
  • Proven experience building and scaling programs from scratch, including referral programs, ambassador programs, partner programs, communities, or other ecosystem-driven growth initiatives.
  • Strong strategic and operational mindset - able to translate ambiguous opportunities into structured plans, experiments, and measurable outcomes.
  • Experience designing incentive structures, engagement strategies, and scalable operating processes.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to define success metrics, analyze performance, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence teams without direct authority.
  • Comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced, remote-first environment where priorities evolve quickly.
  • Strong understanding of Shopify, ecommerce merchants, and the broader ecommerce ecosystem is highly preferred.

At AfterShip, we know great talent doesn't always fit every requirement. If you're passionate about our mission and believe you can make an impact, we encourage you to apply.

Why You Should Join Us:

With flexible hours depending on your time zone, you'll be able to have a schedule that fits your working style and the requirements of your role.
