Job Summary:
The Divisional Merchandise Manager (DMM), Channel Merchandising provides strategic leadership for merchandising execution within a specific sales channels with a focus on product strategies for each channel and identifying better/best assortment strategies. This role is accountable for translating enterprise merchandising strategy into channel-specific category visions that drive profitable growth, optimize customer relevance, and ensure consistent brand expression. The DMM leads cross-functional and multi-level merchandising teams, balancing customer demand, financial objectives, and inventory productivity while aligning channel priorities with enterprise goals.
Responsibilities:
Key Accountabilities:
  • Own and execute the channel-specific merchandise strategy, ensuring alignment with enterprise brand, financial, and customer objectives.
  • Translate divisional and category strategies into actionable assortments, pricing architecture, promotional plans, and inventory strategies
  • within the channel.
  • Serve as a key thought partner in shaping channel evolution, including omni-channel integration and customer experience differentiation.
  • Accountable for channel-level sales, margin, inventory turn, and gross margin return metrics.
  • Partner with Planning and Finance to establish and manage open-to-buy, forecasting, and financial plans.
  • Drive disciplined decision-making to balance growth opportunities with risk management and profitability.
  • Ensure inventory strategies support channel demand patterns, fulfillment models, and seasonal dynamics.
  • Lead decision-making related to expansions, exits, test-and-learn initiatives, and localization where applicable.
  • Partner closely with Planning, Pricing, Supply Chain, Digital, Marketing, Stores, and Operations to ensure seamless execution.
  • Influence upstream processes including product development, sourcing, and allocation to support channel needs.
  • Represent channel merchandising priorities in enterprise-level forums and leadership reviews.
  • Lead, coach, and develop high-performing merchandising teams, including managers and senior individual contributors.
  • Set clear expectations, decision rights, and performance goals aligned to business priorities.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Merchandising, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive merchandising experience, including senior leadership responsibility.

Skills & Behaviors:
  • Proven experience leading merchandising strategies within a specific retail channel (digital, stores, omni-channel, or specialty format).
  • Demonstrated financial literacy, with the ability to read, interpret, and act on P&L statements, merchandise income statements, and key
  • retail financial reports.
  • Deep understanding of sales, margin, inventory investment, turn, GMROI, markdowns, and promotional economics.
  • Strong understanding of channels specific customer behavior and demand drivers.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large, multi-layered teams and influence cross-functional partners at an executive level.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required.

Hourly/Salary
