Strategic Account Manager - Medicaid

Hybrid role (3 days/week in office) at our Salt Lake City, Boise, Fargo, Portland, Vancouver, Renton, Medford, Burlington, Lewiston offices. Preference will be given to current employees and candidates who reside within a commutable distance from our Fargo, Salt Lake City, Boise, and Lewiston offices or who are willing to relocate.

As a member of the Government Programs team, our Strategic Account Manager-Medicaid will provide dedicated leadership for relationship management, governance, and stakeholder engagement - serving as the critical bridge between Cambia and our state agency partners to ensure the success of our North Dakota Medicaid line of business - all in service of creating a person-focused health care experience.

What You Bring to Cambia:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or Marketing and 10 years of health plan and/or account management experience, including experience servicing large group accounts, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Skills and Attributes:

  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strategic account relationships, both directly with customers and on their behalf with internal stakeholders, including experience working with government or state agency partners
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Medicaid managed care programs and experience building trusted relationships with state Medicaid agencies, regulators, and other key stakeholders while managing contractual commitments and strategic priorities. Demonstrated experience leading collaborative strategic planning, developing supporting documentation, creating financial business cases, and driving operational execution
  • Ability to balance customer and regulatory partner needs with business realities, skilled at achieving win-win outcomes through a partnership and collaborative approach
  • Knowledge of industry trends in healthcare, including Medicaid programs, as well as federal and state legislative and regulatory issues
  • Experience developing and delivering effective, relevant presentations to customers, state agency partners, and internal stakeholders at all levels
  • Proven ability to manage escalations, proactively identify risks, and develop contingency plans that protect both external relationships and internal execution
  • Experience with AI tools and technologies to enhance productivity and decision-making in professional settings highly desired
  • Strong communication skills, both externally and internally, with the ability to achieve goals through influence, advocacy, and bringing colleagues together across a highly matrixed organization

What You Will Do at Cambia:

  • Provide dedicated leadership for state relations, stakeholder engagement, and governance responsibilities required to operate a successful North Dakota Medicaid line of business, maintaining strong partnerships with state agencies and ensuring regulatory confidence
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external stakeholder relationships, complementing the Operations Manager's focus on operational performance, compliance, and day-to-day execution to establish a sustainable and high-performing operating model
  • Ensure a clear understanding of client and state agency needs, recommending strategies and programs to most effectively achieve business objectives while anticipating needs before partners ask for help
  • Drive cross-functional coordination across a highly matrixed organization, ensuring alignment between external commitments made to state agencies and internal execution by operational teams
  • Act as the first point of contact for escalated issue resolution, proactively managing risks and developing contingency plans to protect both stakeholder relationships and organizational performance
  • Work with the Strategic Relationship Director to monitor regulatory, market, and competitive conditions, anticipating changing priorities and implementing strategic adjustments to support the account management approach
  • Lead the introduction and successful implementation of new products, program enhancements, and strategic initiatives in accordance with a multiyear business plan, ensuring sustainable processes and consistent delivery on service level agreements

Pay ranges vary based on the candidate's work location. The expected hiring range depends on skills, experience, education, and training; relevant licensure/certifications; and performance history.

Oregon, Washington, Utah, and Idaho: The expected hiring range is $136,000-184,000, the full salary range is $128,000-208,000 and the bonus target is 15%.

North Dakota: The full salary range is $90-435-149,219.
