The Manager Field & Grid Change Management is responsible for driving the people side of change across enterprise Field Operations, Grid Modernization, Asset Management, and Operational Technology initiatives. This role partners closely with business and technology leaders to accelerate adoption, increase utilization, and maximize value realization from investments that transform how work is planned, executed, monitored, and maintained across the utility value chain.

Reporting through the Change Center of Excellence (CCoE), this role leads organizational change management efforts for field and grid transformation initiatives, including Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), mobile workforce technologies, grid operations platforms, work management systems, and digital field enablement solutions. The role focuses on ensuring front-line employees, operations leaders, and support teams successfully adopt new technologies, processes, and ways of working that improve safety, reliability, efficiency, and customer outcomes.

A key responsibility is translating complex operational and technology changes into meaningful business and workforce impacts, helping employees understand not only what is changing, but why it matters. This role works within a SAFe Agile environment, embedding change management activities into delivery cadences to ensure readiness, adoption, and sustainable business outcomes.


Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

Change Strategy & Adoption

  • Develop and execute change management strategies for Field Operations, Grid Modernization, Asset Management, and Operational Technology initiatives.
  • Drive adoption of enterprise field and grid platforms, digital workforce tools, work management solutions, and asset management capabilities.
  • Lead change management activities across the full transformation lifecycle, including stakeholder engagement, communications, training, readiness, deployment, and sustainment.
  • Conduct change impact assessments to evaluate impacts on field processes, job roles, operating procedures, workforce behaviors, and ways of working.
  • Develop and maintain change plans, adoption strategies, and success metrics aligned to operational and business objectives.
  • Leverage CCoE methodologies, tools, and governance standards to ensure consistent delivery across initiatives.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communications

  • Partner with operations, field, engineering, and technology leaders to align change strategies with business priorities and operational goals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with executive sponsors, operations leadership, field supervisors, labor relations, and front-line employees.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement activities, workshops, listening sessions, and feedback forums to drive alignment and address concerns.
  • Develop communications that translate complex system and process changes into clear, practical, and role-relevant messaging.
  • Partner with Communications teams to deliver targeted awareness, engagement, and adoption campaigns across field and operations organizations.

Training, Readiness & Enablement

  • Collaborate with training and enablement teams to define requirements and support development of role-based learning programs.
  • Assess organizational readiness and implement interventions to address adoption barriers and workforce concerns.
  • Support change champion networks and peer-to-peer adoption programs across operational organizations.
  • Ensure field personnel, supervisors, and operations leaders are prepared to successfully adopt new technologies and processes.
  • Drive sustainable adoption through reinforcement strategies, performance support tools, and ongoing engagement.

Agile Delivery & Continuous Improvement

  • Embed change management activities into SAFe Agile delivery processes, including PI Planning, release planning, and program execution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure change activities are integrated into project and implementation plans.
  • Monitor adoption, utilization, and proficiency metrics to measure change effectiveness and operational impact.
  • Establish and track KPIs and OKRs related to adoption, readiness, engagement, training effectiveness, and value realization.
  • Conduct post-implementation reviews and apply lessons learned to continuously improve change management practices.

Leadership & Governance

  • Provide leadership and direction to internal and external change management resources supporting Field & Grid initiatives.
  • Manage change integration across interconnected transformation programs, including dependencies with enterprise platforms and operational systems.
  • Identify and mitigate organizational risks related to workforce adoption, operational readiness, labor impacts, and business continuity.
  • Serve as the enterprise lead for cross-functional change champion engagement, enabling consistent change adoption across multiple initiatives.
  • Partner across business, IT, vendor, consulting, and operational teams to successfully deliver enterprise transformation initiatives.

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Organizational Development, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in organizational change management, communications, training, organizational development, or technology transformation.
  • 3+ years of experience in organizational change management program design and implementation for large, complex enterprise wide transformations.
  • MS-Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies, and tools.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent active listening skills
  • Ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships
  • Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal

  • Advanced degree in Business, Leadership, Communications, Organizational Development, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Prosci, CCMP, or equivalent change management certification.
  • Experience in utility, energy, infrastructure, or other operationally intensive industries.
  • Experience supporting Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), GIS, OMS, ADMS, field mobility, work management, or operational technology programs.
  • Experience managing change across union and non-union workforce populations.
  • Familiarity with Change Center of Excellence (CCoE) operating models and governance frameworks.
  • SAFe certification is a plus.
