Job description

Job Title: Adoptions Coordinator

Department: Adoptions

Reports To: Adoptions and Retail Manager

FLSA Status: Non-exempt, hourly

Pay Rate: $16.00 Hourly

SUMMARY

The Adoptions Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of the adoption program, including animal selection and transport and records management. The Adoptions Coordinator is also responsible for assisting with offsite adoption events, onsite adoptions and other League sponsored activities when needed. Adoptions Coordinators will facilitate adoptions by evaluating both the potential adopter as well as the animal in an effort to find the best possible match. Assists clients with Boutique products and sales.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Communicate in a diplomatic and tactful manner with League staff, offsite locations, volunteers, and adopters through all steps of the adoptions process.

  • Identify animal needs during the selection process and make appropriate arrangements prior to transport, as needed

  • Maintain correct information in the Chameleon database for all animals in the adoption program; communicate with adopters as needed, to ensure data accuracy.

  • Maintain confidentiality with adopters’ personal information.

  • Visit and transport animals to offsite locations, as needed.

  • Lead offsite adoption events, onsite adoptions, and support other League-sponsored activities, as needed.

  • Maintain adoption forms; make adoption folders, stickers and handouts; assist with supply orders, as needed.

  • Assist with cleaning of adoption areas used for animals in the adoptions program (i.e. urine, fecal matter, bodily fluids, dirt and mud).

  • Understand the adoption process and guidelines set by the League.

  • Remove personal opinions/views/judgements in order to make the appropriate animal/client match in a professional manner.

  • Must be dependable with attendance and punctuality.

  • Always treat people and animals with respect, contribute to effective teamwork, promote staff cooperation, and foster public relations beneficial to the League.

  • Assists Client Services with front desk duties as needed

  • Be able to handle and work with dogs and cats of all breeds, size and temperament

  • Drive to different events and locations based on the League’s need
