What are chameleons?

Chameleons are a distinctive and specialized family of lizards known for their ability to change skin color, their long, sticky tongues used for catching prey, and their independently mobile eyes. Most chameleon species are found in Madagascar and Africa, but some live in parts of Asia and Europe. They are primarily arboreal, spending most of their lives in trees, and their color-changing ability helps with communication, temperature regulation, and camouflage. Chameleons are popular in the pet trade but require specialized care to thrive in captivity.
