Job description

Campus Director - AoPS Academy FriscoBuild a Campus Where Motivated Students Thrive

Some students are happiest when the work is hard, the questions are deep, and the people around them share their enthusiasm for learning. AoPS Academy exists for those students.

As Campus Director of AoPS Academy Frisco campus, you will lead a community built around intellectual curiosity and meaningful mathematical challenge. You will bring together exceptional teachers, motivated students, and families who believe young people are capable of far more than they are often asked to do. You will set the tone for the campus, champion AoPS's academic mission, and help make the Frisco Campus a place where students feel known, inspired, and excited to stretch themselves.

About AoPS Academy

AoPS Academy is part of Art of Problem Solving (AoPS), a global leader in advanced K-12 math education. Since 1993, AoPS has helped discover, inspire, and train the next generation of great problem solvers - students who are energized by challenge, motivated to stretch their thinking, and eager to explore complex ideas.

AoPS Academy brings this approach to small, live classrooms, both in person and online. We offer advanced courses in math, science, and language arts for students in Grades 1-12, creating local communities where intellectual exploration meets rigorous challenges.

Our students learn from accomplished instructors and alongside peers who share their enthusiasm for learning. Since opening our first Academy in 2016, we have grown to more than 20 campuses nationwide, and we are continuing to expand.

The Opportunity

The AoPS Academy Campus Director at our Frisco campus leads a vibrant, dynamic enrichment program where each day brings new opportunities to engage students, mentor instructors, and solve meaningful challenges. In addition to being the academic leader of the campus, you will lead a team to engage with families of both current and prospective students, growing campus enrollments, and ensuring a thriving learning community.

This might be the right job for you if you thrive in a dynamic environment, enjoy solving problems creatively while guiding others to do the same, and have the academic vision and leadership capability to grow a problem solving culture among staff, students, and their families.

If you're passionate about cultivating critical thinking, challenging students to solve complex math problems, and inspiring a love of deep learning, we want to hear from you!

What You Will LeadCreate an Exceptional Academic Community
  • Establish a campus culture where academically advanced students are challenged, supported, and excited to learn.
  • Ensure every class challenges and engages our most advanced learners, reflecting AoPS's commitment to deep understanding, active participation, and rigorous problem-solving.
  • Teach AoPS courses and remain closely connected to the student and instructor experience.
  • Build a culture of instructional excellence in which all instructors continue to grow as educators and ambassadors of the AoPS approach, and exceptionally talented teachers who can engage and challenge our most advanced students are recognized and celebrated.
  • Maintain the highest standards of academic quality and service to families.
Build and Inspire a Strong Team
  • Recruit, hire, train, evaluate, and retain outstanding full-time and part-time staff.
  • Give team members clear expectations, meaningful feedback, and opportunities to develop.
  • Build a collaborative culture in which people take ownership, solve problems, and remain focused on the company mission.
Help More Families Discover and Stay with AoPS
  • Build trusted relationships with current and prospective students and families.
  • Help families understand what makes AoPS different and determine whether our programs are the right fit for their children.
  • Lead efforts to grow enrollment and retain students by delivering an experience families find academically meaningful and personally welcoming.
  • Develop mission-aligned partnerships with local organizations. Attend and host events that strengthen the local advanced math learning community.
Turn Vision into a Thriving Campus
  • Take ownership of the campus's reputation in academic and customer service excellence, and ensure its long-term success.
  • Execute campus playbooks to deliver the most mission-aligned experience possible.
  • Use your frontline experience to anticipate future needs, plan thoughtfully, and partner with regional and national leadership to address challenges and opportunities as they emerge.
QualificationsRequired
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Teaching experience and highly aligned with AoPS pedagogy
  • Deep understanding of the needs of students advanced in mathematics
  • Strong leadership and commitment to academic excellence
Preferred
  • Advanced degree in math or a related field
  • Teaching experience with advanced learners in elementary or secondary schools
  • Familiarity with math and other academic competitions
  • Leadership experience, preferably in an academically enriching environment
  • Experience with student recruitment, marketing, community engagement, or enrollment growth

We recognize that exceptional candidates do not always follow identical professional paths. We encourage you to apply if the mission resonates with you and your experience has prepared you to lead an ambitious educational community.

Work Schedule

AoPS Academy is an after-school program, so most classes and many campus responsibilities take place during evenings and weekends. Campus Directors therefore work a nontraditional schedule during the school year and should be present during the hours when students, families, and instructors are most active.

Summer operations typically follow a more traditional Monday-through-Friday schedule.
