CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking two Senior Inspectors to join our Construction Inspection Team in Columbia, SC. In this position, you will play a critical role in evaluating construction work, resolving field issues, and ensuring compliance with contract requirements. This opportunity allows you to apply your expertise on complex transportation projects while supporting junior inspectors and collaborating closely with project teams to deliver safe, reliable infrastructure.


  • Monitor construction of transportation infrastructure projects to ensure full compliance with plans, specifications, codes, and quality standards
  • Review drawings, submittals, and construction documents; verify materials, methods, and work sequences meet requirements
  • Document field observations, measurements, and computations to determine acceptability of completed work and support progress payment verification
  • Identify nonconforming work, evaluate proposed corrective measures, and recommend acceptance or rejection
  • Coordinate daily with owners, contractors, and local authorities; serve as the primary onsite contact for constructionrelated issues
  • Prepare clear daily reports, maintain accurate project records, and support QA testing, surveys, and constructability reviews
  • Lead project meetings, guide administrative documentation, and mentor entrylevel inspectors to support successful project delivery

  • High School Diploma required; Associate’s degree in Engineering Science, Construction Management, or related technical field preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of related construction observation experience required
  • Strong understanding of construction techniques, contract documents, and industry standards with the ability to interpret client contracts
  • Ability to work independently on complex projects as well as collaboratively within a team; willingness to guide entry level staff
  • Excellent communication skills and strong mathematics skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Valid driver’s license required; extensive travel may be required
  • ACI and South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) Earthwork and Concrete Roadway certifications preferred
