CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Senior Inspector to join our Water Team in Blacksburg, VA or Richmond, VA. In this role, you'll serve as a trusted presence on construction sites, helping oversee projects that support clean water delivery, wastewater treatment, and long-term community resilience. Working alongside contractors, engineers, and project stakeholders, you'll help bring essential infrastructure improvements from design to reality.


  • Monitor construction of water/wastewater infrastructure projects to ensure full compliance with plans, specifications, codes, and quality standards
  • Review drawings, submittals, and construction documents; verify materials, methods, and work sequences meet requirements
  • Document field observations, measurements, and computations to determine acceptability of completed work and support progress payment verification
  • Identify nonconforming work, evaluate proposed corrective measures, and recommend acceptance or rejection
  • Coordinate daily with owners, contractors, and local authorities; serve as the primary on site contact for construction related issues
  • Prepare clear daily reports, maintain accurate project records, and support QA testing, surveys, and constructability reviews
  • Lead project meetings, guide administrative documentation, and mentor entry level inspectors to support successful project delivery

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associateโ€™s degree in Engineering Science, Construction Management, or related technical field preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of related construction observation experience required
  • Knowledge of construction techniques and industry with the ability to comprehend construction documents
  • Ability to work independently in the field while collaborating effectively with project teams and assisting senior team members with complex projects
  • Strong communication and mathematics skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Valid driverโ€™s license required; extensive travel may be required

  • Contribute to projects that improve water quality, modernize aging infrastructure, and support environmental stewardship
