Job description

OVERVIEW

We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented General Accountant to join our dynamic team in the construction industry. The ideal candidate will play
a pivotal role in ensuring accurate record-keeping, assisting in financial transactions, and supporting the overall financial health of our construction projects.
The position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced construction
environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Maintain detailed and organized accounting records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
• Record and reconcile construction billings on a daily basis
• Record cash receipts to outstanding invoices on a daily basis
• Resolve billing and cash receipt issues and questions
• Monitor and provide status updates to management on receivables that have been outstanding for unusually long periods of time
• Support the Controllers with reporting and analysis of monthly results
• Assists in reconciling accounts; communicate any problems or discrepancies to the Controllers for guidance toward resolution of the problem
• Manage vendor credit application requests for Operations
• Perform special projects for the department, as needed
• Prepare mailings and priority shipments for the Accounting Department
• Prepare labels and maintain files as needed within the department
• Maintain financial security and integrity by adhering to internal accounting controls and confidentiality
• Perform such other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time –often on short notice - by the CFO and Controller

QUALIFICATIONS
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Degree(s) must be from a credible college or university
• Proven experience as an accountant in the construction industry is a plus
• Knowledge of accounting principles and the application of accounting principles
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
• Excellent verbal and written skills and a willingness to work closely with Operations and others in the Accounting department
• Basic mathematic skills and the ability to analyze data
• Ability to multi-task, establish priorities and organize efficiently
• Strong computer skills, with a proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a familiarity with accounting software

Physical:  While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee may be required to:

  • Remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods during office work and meetings.
  • Operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
  • Frequently communicate and exchange accurate information in person, electronically, and during virtual or telephone meetings.

 

Mental:  While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee may be required to:

  • Direct, collaborate with, and communicate with executives, clients, and project teams. 
  • Interpret and apply company policies, safety protocols, and written instructions. 
  • Perform mathematical calculations, analyze business data, and review project estimates.
  • Maintain accuracy, productivity, and attention to detail while managing competing priorities in an active office environment with frequent interruptions. 
  • Process, retain, and manage complex project details, contractual requirements, and client data.
