Overview

We are seeking a seasoned, strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to serve as a key member of the executive leadership team during an aggressive growth and expansion phase. This role is critical to scaling a complex insurance carrier and TPA organization that sells business, manages claims and administrative operations for carrier partners, launches new products, executes M&A transactions, and manages accounting and reporting for a diversified investment portfolio and real estate holdings.

The ideal candidate is a proven financial leader with deep experience in highly regulated insurance and financial services environments, capable of partnering closely with a CEO and Owner who are growth-driven, entrepreneurial, and focused on increasing enterprise value.

Strategic & Executive Leadership
  • Serve as a trusted strategic partner to the CEO and Owner, providing financial leadership to support aggressive growth, expansion, and revenue initiatives
  • Help define and execute the company’s long-term financial strategy including RBC forecasting, capital structure, and growth roadmap
  • Translate complex financial data into actionable insights to support executive decision-making
  • Build scalable financial infrastructure to support rapid organizational growth and increasing operational complexity
  • Oversee all financial operations, including general accounting and treasury operations, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, federal, state and local tax and internal controls
  • Ensure timely, accurate Statutory and GAAP-compliant financial statements across multiple legal entities and lines of business
  • Oversee cash flow management, capital planning, RBC forecasting, and liquidity strategy
Insurance, TPA & Regulatory Oversight
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to Life Insurance, Annuities, Long-Term Care (LTC), and TPA operations
  • Manage statutory reporting, audits, examinations, and regulatory filings with state insurance departments and other governing bodies
  • Oversee SOC 1 / SOC 2 compliance and strengthen internal controls to meet carrier, regulator, and partner expectations
  • Partner with legal, compliance, and operations teams to proactively address regulatory risk
Mergers, Acquisitions & Growth Initiatives
  • Lead financial due diligence, valuation, structuring, and integration for mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships
  • Develop post-merger integration plans to ensure financial, operational, and cultural alignment
  • Evaluate new product launches and expansion opportunities, including pricing, profitability, and risk analysis
Investment & Asset Management
  • Oversee investment accounting and reporting, including Statutory and GAAP considerations
  • Provide financial oversight of real estate holdings, including performance analysis and strategic planning
  • Partner with investment managers and stakeholders to align investment strategy with company objectives
Organizational Scale & Team Leadership
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing finance, accounting, and reporting organization
  • Implement scalable systems, processes, and controls to support growth across multiple business units and entities
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement
  • Enterprise Ownership & Execution
    Takes full accountability for enterprise financial outcomes and consistently delivers results in complex, regulated environments. Establishes clear priorities, drives disciplined execution, and builds scalable systems that support growth, profitability, and control.

    Adapts financial strategy quickly to support growth initiatives, acquisitions, new products, and regulatory change. Makes timely, well-informed decisions that balance speed, risk, and long-term value creation.

RequirementsQualifications & ExperienceRequired
  • 15+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including prior CFO or senior finance executive roles
  • Significant experience in insurance, TPA operations, or similarly regulated financial services environments
  • Demonstrated success leading finance in complex, multi-entity organizations undergoing rapid growth
  • Deep knowledge of insurance accounting, Statutory and GAAP reporting, regulatory compliance, capital management, and federal and state tax
  • Proven experience with SOC compliance, audits, and internal control frameworks
  • Strong M&A experience, including due diligence and post-acquisition integration
  • Track record of partnering effectively with entrepreneurial CEOs and owners
Preferred
  • CPA, CFA, or MBA
  • Experience with Life Insurance and Long-Term Care products
  • Experience overseeing investment portfolios and real estate assets
  • Prior experience scaling a company through significant revenue and operational growth
