A Certified Urology Coder is a medical coding specialist trained in urology-specific procedures, diagnoses, and billing regulations. They review physician documentation, assign correct codes (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS), and ensure compliance with insurance and government guidelines. Their role helps streamline reimbursements, prevent claim denials, and maintain accurate medical records. Certifications like the CPC or CGSC from AAPC can enhance credibility in this field.

As a Certified Urology Coder, your day usually involves reviewing patient records, assigning appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes, and ensuring compliance with current coding and billing guidelines specific to urology. This role is a key link in the revenue cycle, helping healthcare practices receive proper reimbursement while maintaining regulatory compliance.
