Certified Sommeliers work closely with chefs to develop wine pairings that complement the restaurant’s menu, often participating in tastings and menu planning meetings. They also train servers and bar staff on wine offerings and service standards, ensuring consistent and knowledgeable recommendations for guests. This collaborative environment helps create a seamless dining experience where food and wine are thoughtfully matched, and all staff are equipped to answer guest questions. Effective communication and teamwork are essential for delivering exceptional service and elevating the overall guest experience.

What is a certified sommelier?

A Certified Sommelier is a wine professional who has passed the Certified Sommelier Exam, typically administered by the Court of Master Sommeliers. This credential demonstrates a solid understanding of wine theory, tasting ability, and practical service skills. Certified Sommeliers often work in restaurants, hotels, or wine retailers, where they advise guests on wine selections, manage wine lists, and oversee wine service. Achieving this certification requires a combination of study, experience, and practical training.
