The Cerner Millennium Program Director is responsible for leading large-scale Oracle Health/Cerner Millennium electronic health record (EHR) implementations, optimization initiatives, and enterprise transformation programs across healthcare organizations. This role oversees program governance, stakeholder engagement, budget management, clinical workflow transformation, technical delivery, and operational readiness to ensure successful deployment and adoption of Cerner Millennium solutions.

The Program Director serves as the executive liaison between healthcare leadership, clinical stakeholders, IT teams, vendors, and implementation partners while driving strategic alignment, regulatory compliance, and measurable business outcomes. 25% onsite travel expected for duration of the contract. 

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership

  • Direct enterprise-wide Cerner Millennium implementation and optimization programs      
  • Develop and manage program governance structures, roadmaps, and strategic objectives 
  • Lead cross-functional delivery teams including clinical informatics, technical analysts, architects, trainers, and project managers 
  • Ensure alignment between organizational goals and EHR transformation initiatives 
  • Oversee multiple concurrent workstreams and interdependencies 

Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate with executive leadership, physicians, nurses, operational leaders, and IT leadership 
  • Facilitate steering committees, governance meetings, and executive reporting 
  • Manage vendor and consulting partner relationships 
  • Communicate risks, milestones, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership 

Cerner Millennium Oversight

  • Provide subject matter expertise across Cerner Millennium modules including, clinical and revenue cycle applications
  • Lead workflow redesign and clinical transformation efforts 
  • Oversee application build, integration, testing, cutover, and go-live activities 
  • Support system optimization and post-implementation stabilization 

Financial & Operational Management

  • Manage program budgets, forecasting, contracts, and resource allocation 
  • Monitor KPIs, project health metrics, and implementation milestones 
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, security, and data governance requirements 
  • Develop risk mitigation and contingency plans 

Change Management & Adoption

  • Drive organizational readiness and adoption strategies 
  • Oversee training, communication, and end-user engagement initiatives 
  • Lead process improvement and workflow standardization activities 
  • Support long-term operational sustainability and continuous improvement 

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Information Systems, Nursing, Business, or related field 
  • 10+ years of healthcare IT experience 
  • 5+ years leading large-scale Cerner Millennium or Oracle Health programs 
  • Experience managing enterprise EHR implementations across acute care and ambulatory      settings 
  • Strong understanding of clinical workflows and healthcare operations 
  • Proven experience managing multi-million-dollar healthcare IT programs 
  • Experience with program governance, PMO structures, and executive reporting 
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree (MBA, MHA, MSN, or related field) 
  • PMP, PgMP, Prosci, Lean Six Sigma, or Agile certifications 
  • Oracle Health/Cerner implementation certifications 
  • Experience with federal healthcare programs, VA, DoD, or large integrated delivery networks 
  • Knowledge of: 
    • HL7/FHIR integrations 
    • Revenue cycle workflows 
    • Clinical informatics 
    • Data migration and interoperability 
    • Healthcare analytics platforms
