Job description

MicroHealth is seeking a skilled and motivated Business Intelligence Developer with a strong background in healthcare data and SQL development to join our team. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain enterprise BI solutions that transform complex healthcare data into actionable insights for clinical, operational, and financial stakeholders. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to understand business needs and deliver high-quality dashboards, reports, and data pipelines that drive decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
  • Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions against large healthcare datasets
  • Design and develop ETL/ELT pipelines to extract, transform, and load data from clinical, claims, and administrative systems (EHR, EMR, ADT, billing)
  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across all reporting layers
  • Perform data profiling, root cause analysis, and data quality remediation
  • Build and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using BI tools such as Apache Superset, Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms
  • Translate business requirements from clinical and operational teams into scalable, self-service BI solutions
  • Develop KPI frameworks and performance metrics aligned with healthcare quality, utilization, and financial goals
  • Support ad hoc analysis requests and present findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders
  • Work with standard healthcare data models and terminologies including ICD-10, CPT, SNOMED, LOINC, and HL7/FHIR
  • Ensure all BI solutions comply with HIPAA and organizational data governance policies
  • Partner with clinical informatics and IT teams on data architecture and master data management initiatives
  • Gather and document business and technical requirements from stakeholders across clinical, finance, and operations
  • Maintain thorough documentation of data definitions, data dictionaries, report logic, and development standards
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning and backlog grooming
  • Mentor junior analysts and provide guidance on SQL best practices and BI development standards

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Advanced SQL (T-SQL, PL/SQL, or PostgreSQL)
  • Healthcare data systems (EHR, EMR, Claims)
  • BI tools: Apache Superset, Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent
  • ETL/ELT development and data pipelines
  • Data warehousing concepts (star/snowflake schemas)
  • Stored procedures, views, and query optimization
  • Data quality and validation methodologies
  • Excel and pivot table analysis
  • ICD-10, CPT, SNOMED, LOINC coding standards
  • HL7/FHIR data standards
  • HIPAA compliance and data privacy regulations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Minium 7 years of experience in a BI developer, data analyst, or similar role within a healthcare setting
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS
  • Familiarity with JavaScript, Python, or R for data analysis and automation
  • Knowledge of Epic, Cerner, or other major EHR platforms and their reporting modules (e.g., Epic Clarity/Caboodle)
  • Experience with SSRS, SSAS, or Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • Healthcare analytics certifications (e.g., CHDA, RHIA) or BI tool certifications (e.g., Tableau Desktop Specialist)
  • TRICARE experience
  • Apache Superset experience
Salary: $120000-$130000
